The above excerpt is just plain silly- no one needs the FBI to plant a story about the Black Panthers being antisemitic- everyone already knows the group is antisemitic and so forth - there are plenty of articles already out there and so such an article wouldn't be 'phony.' Even if one didn't "need" the FBI to plant such stories, nevertheless they did so. They smeared actress Jean Seaburg, who later committed suicide, and they fabricated a Black Panther coloring book that suggested the value of killing cops - and had them distributed in places the Black Panthers frequented. Of course we now have Richard Jewell, and Steven Hatfill - nothing has changed.

They don't train in the States, but they certainly are keen to recruit Americans (naturalized or otherwise) to their ranks for passport and documentation purposes. John Walker, Hesham Mohammed Hadayet, Jose Padilla, Semi Osman, the Ujaama brothers, the Detriot Six, the Buffalo Six, and on and on.
However, while they may recruit in the States, they train overseas, sending prospective jihadis to Yemen or Pakistan for ideological indoctrination before sending them on to terrorist training camps in Sudan, Somalia, Indonesia, the Philippines, and other allied states.
The chances of the FBI actually penetrating a real sleep cell (as opposed to some wannabes), however, are somewhat unlikely given the stringent efforts the group goes through in order to protect itself. Still, it's nice to know that they're keeping tabs on the wannabes.

I wonder how much of this is actually true? I'd guess not very much or they wouldn't be talking to NewsMax and UPI about it.

Yet.

I know they spread the word here but they are not about to come out and say hey..wanna join Al Qaeda? It is a process the FBI will be trying for years to figure out. Agree on everything else you said.

Some might find this article comforting. I find it stupid as all hell. The FBI/CIA/NSA/INS all are a cluster f-ckCrappy suits, wrong fork, and $1.25 cigar bump.

New York, Detroit, New Jersey, Los Angeles, the Virginia area, Florida and cities in North Carolina such as Charlotte are all believed to contain cells and their supporters, usually living in run-down sections of urban areas But NOT Seattle. They're just positive role models and community activists, members of the Religion of Peace (TM) all.

Pre-9/11, the term "al-Qaeda" was not even mentioned publicly and the term most often used by al-Qaeda recruiters was mujahideen, which, in Muslim thought, provokes imagery roughly similar to that with which we Westerners associate with the term "knight" or "paladin."
The basic gist of known al-Qaeda recruiting in US was either to ship members to either to virtual communes (al-Fuqra) or to overseas training camps, generally under the auspices of living holier lives or going to fight oppressed Muslims in your geographic region of choice. In either case, all prospective recruits are randomly paired up into partnerships. This is an excellent way both to build up loyalty to the organization by personalizing it as well as to root out any backsteppers or prospective spies (al-Qaeda even has its own internal intelligence wing led by Amin al-Haq for that very purpose).
The CIA and FBI don't have a prayer of joining al-Qaeda unless they manage to "turn" a a mid to high-ranking member still active within the organization. And even then, any turned member risks death should al-Qaeda learn of his activities.

The missed Memphis..we had a hamas biggie here at one time..he's now behind bars somewhere. If he was living here then there are sure to be more..then there is the Nashville raid yesterday of iraqi's living in Nashville and sending money to "sick, poor and hungry" relatives in iraq.

As I have said before, on 9/12/2001, the President should have revoked the visas of
all citizens of terror-supporting states. Detailed background investigations of
all "naturalized" citizens from those nations should have commenced.
Since this was not done--and evidently will not be done--someday soon we will see an enormity worse than the 9/11 attacks.
