WHICH CALIFORNIA JUDGES DO I VOTE FOR?
Argus

Posted on 10/29/2002 12:20:05 PM PST by Argus

Calling all California FReepers:

I am totally confused re the slate of judges on the ballot, both on the state Supreme Court and in the appellate division, as to which are trustworthy and which should be given the boot. Where can you get information on who these people are?

My general rule of thumb is to vote against retaining any judge. Bad judges deserve being thrown out and even good judges could do with a serving of humility.

Go to Appellate Counsellor Profiles Here.

This site gives you biographical information on all the judges in California.
Unless I hear otherwise, my basic rule is : If they were appointed by a democrat, I vote against them.

Correction: O'Leary is a "NO" for the 4th Appelate, Div. 3.
Sorry misread my notes. Also I agree with "albee" "NO's" for Carlos Moreno & Kathryn Werdegar for the CA Supreme Court.

Vote for males with non-hispanic names. Oh, wait. I got confused again. It is ok to vote for someone because they have an hispanic name, but not ok to not vote for them because they have an hispanic name. One way is acceptable, and the other way is racist. It is so confusing.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'm filling out my absentee ballot tonight and really had no idea. BTW, ZGuy, the link to appellate profiles didn't work for me, don't know why. Thank you Jim for the link to the CA GOP website. And Mildred Lillie is indeed no longer with us, unfortunately.

I don't know any of these candidates, so how might I vote one way or the other?

I've been looking for Curtiss Rappe, Superior Court. I served on a jury in his court, and his no-nonsense demeanor I'd vote for. Haven't seen that bench in two rounds though, now.
