"...have you a scholarly thought on this knotty problem?"

Well, I ain't nuthin' but a good ol' boy from the South; however, as luck would have it, as a matter of fact I do, my FRiend...the problem here is that many who frequent the Leftist sites are caught up in the Rodman-ization of American Politics, wherein whoever's the Loudest, Most Bombastic and Most Obnoxious gets the attention and sometimes even cash-moolah, and I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. J has similar aspirations.

DUers probably call us FREAKS like we call them RATS. So what?! I can prove my allegations and theirs are unfounded. In any event, Mr. J seems willing to talk reasonably to us RadicalRightWingWhackos and I, for one, am prepared to share in the discussion.

Oh, and by the way, now that you have a Freep name, please note that you can click the "profile" command tell the Freep community a little about yourself. How about something like:

Hi, my name is Daryle and I spend way too much of my time maintaining a left-wing website. I accuse the DC Freepers of being racists on that website. It's called "onepeoplesproject" -- check it out. I have political views but I don't want to tell you which party I usually vote for other than to say that I am not affiliated with the major parties. If you would like to give me your name, social security number, and date of birth, that would be great because I'd like to post them with your credit card number if that's OK on the website. I like to do stuff like that for attention.

Anyway, I'm really happy to be here, although I promised all my lefty friends I'd be banned shortly after coming so it's a bit of a disappointment that I haven't been. I look forward to lying to you in various threads and generally just seeing you around.

IDEAS, NOT INSULTS!!

OK, but I'm allowed to call a lie a lie. That's not an insult, that's reality. I also view witty taunting as tending more toward the "idea" than the "insult" category, if that's OK with you. :)

BTW...would you be so kind as to post a link to a DU thread that sorta epitomizes yer problem with Mr. Jenkins' alleged two-facedness? Just to clear the air, of course.

BTW...M.J., yer welcome to post a link to a comparable thread that you are particularly proud of, you know, something that really lays the leather on us FREAKS!!

Muddy,

(1) as Mr. Jenkins here constantly reminds us, he goes to the DU but he's not there Number One fan. He keeps his own website on Freepers and others. Check out http://www.onepeoplesproject.com/oct26fr.htm

(2) The DU talks about Freepers a lot and says we're racist. E.g. check out:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/duforum/DCForumID60/13507.html

QUESTION: How do the left wingers deal with the fact that the Iraqis are at our rally, and not theirs?

ANSWER: Simple: denial. From the Democratic Underground:

24. i'll bet that these "muslims" are on the payroll
like a hired band.
if husham al-husainy is a real iman, i'm a cardinal.
he's a good street performer, his backup drummers and chanters are entertaining. he's a total phoney, maybe he want's to be the first islamic "pat robertson".

Post 32 says:
...but this little rally is far more interesting than the anti-war demonstrations. It has everything: drama, conflict, a fake Iraqi, a hulking redneck, a hint of violence, and...good God, the fake Iraqi is wearing makeup!

Post 37 says:
the episode of the freepers put on a circus was very entertaining. much like watching cops or the osbornes. hope all the performers get paid.

(3) Mr. Jenkins and others have said he is maintaining or did talk in some thread about what's happening here about *him* on Free Republic since it's all about *him.* I haven't undertaken a research as to whether he's a star in his own little cyberspace. Haven't verified that.

Muddy, when I say Mr. Jenkins has accused us of racism without evidence and lied, I refer in particular to this text:
The yellow stripe that ran down Kristinn's back was not as apparent with of the other Freak Republic attendees. The CSPAN footage shows briefly the exchange I was having with a few of them in front of their stage. These were people I had made referenced to in the S29 article, and this was the first time since last year any of them had seen me. When I saw them last, I made myself out as being among them, and they were particularly pissed how they were duped, not to mention concerned about OPP's desire to get any and all information about people like them. One of them was a guy named leadpenny, who incorrectly said that in last year's article I referred to him as having a feeble mind. In truth, I wrote nothing of the sort, but I will now, because his first remarks to me was to ask, "Are you a sniper?" I asked him a few times what exactly did he mean by that - particularly if there was a racial connotation I was supposed to take from that. [Even if he's not lying about this exchange, on our website he has concluded from this that LP is racist and so called him here.]No reply. He just rambled on about how I was a liar, [no doubt leadpenny did, 'cause on previous posts from the S29 rally Mr. Jenkins totally lied about leadpenny}, so I just wrote him and his feeble mind off.

Another bit of racism came in the form of a lady who offered me this advice: "You need to get off the white plantation and leave the Democratic Party!" Even a fellow attendee named Steve agreed that was a racist comment. All she saw was the color of my skin and thought "Democrat." This sad woman didn't care too much for my insistence that she back up what she said, which she would not be able to do since I reject both major parties.

Imam Husham Al-Husainy of the Karbalaa Islamic Center, left, makes a strange bedfellow out of Kristinn Taylor of Freak Republic.

There was one significant change from the other rallies they have held in the past. This time, they managed to find some people of color to stand with! [Mr. Jenkins claims to have been researching us for a while but apparently has been colorblind to the fact that we're not all white.]A group of Iraqi expatriates joined them as they called for war with Saddam Hussein. One of them, Imam Husham Al-Husainy of Dearborn, Michigan's Karbalaa Islamic Center, spoke to the assembled and made a very important statement I hope Freak Republic takes with them. "We need liberation. We don't need occupation!" He said. "We need people to liberate Iraq…We don't want to occupy Iraq…Iraq belongs to the Iraqis!"

That's not what our government has been saying, and if we continue down the course we are taking now, progressives are going to be seeing Imam Al-Husainy again - feeling very betrayed by his "supporters" on the right and working with us. It is a curious alliance to begin with, because the Karbalaa Islamic Center is more aligned with progressives than with Freak Republic. . . . .

I am betting Imam Al-Husainy was trying to bridge this gap between the two opposing sides. If that is true, I applaud the attempt, but it is looking more like a Neville Chamberlain act. [Quotes not attributed to *any* member of the DC CHapter placed here:] On Monday, Freak Republic posters showed their true colors by attacking the Imam for being among them. "I think the Imam is a bit confused, said a poster named jimtorr. "Freepers don't support him, except in that Freepers support USA." Another named "A Vast RightWing Conspirator was even more harsh. "It was sooooo... embarrassing," the poster said. "Not only did the FR offer the Ayatollah a free platform but, at the end of his delirious performance he couldn't even remember who were the suckers who put him on TV."

It was a noble attempt, Imam Al-Husainy, but they will hurt you and yours in the end.

Now, Mr. Jenkins and are having a sustained discussion on the meaning of the words "Monday, Freak Republic posters showed their true colors by attacking the Imam for being among them." The CSPAN video show that the Iraqis were welcome. But Mr. Jenkins views his sentence, in a truly curious twist of grammar, as not reflecting on the DC Chapter. He says "don't sweat it" and it doesn't refer to you and me. I say to him: it does too and I can read, you silly thing. I'm not sweating: I'm calling him a liar. Not a demonstration goes by that he doesn't put something up calling us racist. So I cheerfully ask: why does he *need* us to be racist?

You know, in the world of competitive chess, there's a familiar move that comes up mostly in blitz games. It's when you're nearly checkmated, and the only move you can make is to throw away a piece. It's a move you make to block the rook by throwing your knight in front of it's line of attack, even though you know that once the knight gets swallowed, you're checkmated.

You make the move because it's the only move you can make --no other legal moves.

Why not resign?

'Cause you're playing blitz, by hypothesis, and you're hoping to run out your opponents chess clock before you lose.

So there you sit, with a losing hand, just playing the clock, hoping your opponent will lose on time.

But what if your opponent has lots of time.

Like me. I'm just sitting here pointing out what's obvious to me: you're trying to raise funds for a website which portrays you as this crusader who collects information on racists. And we're not racists. That's not a very good financial situation for you if we're the only ones around for you to claim to research. In fact, it's downright embarassing if word gets out that you're just wasting those few seconds God gives you on your clock.

Hence the emotional need to call us racists. It's really a financial need, actually.

Hey, I have a question: if I'm racist when I support democracy for the Iraqis in their country, was I racist when I supported democracy in South African for black South Africans?

Hey, I got another question: who knows more people in the civil rights community here in Washington, DC -- the kind of people you might have otherwise hoped to get a grant from or something. You? Or one of the people you're calling a racists.

I remember you. We had an email exchange over a year ago. You didn't even know who Gay McDougall was. You're not a civil rights activists. You're a would-be fundraiser doing a civil rights shakedown.

Is it working? Got any $ since you posted the article calling us racist? Or are you still one move from mate.

I never mentioned the DC Chapter in particular in the entire article.

This is the dissassembling I object to. You say that the Freepers he is with don't want them, and the DC Chapter ran the rally. But you say that by calling the Freepers that invited him there racist, you didn't "mention the DC Chapter."

You mean of course you didn't "use the exact words DC Chapter." Mr. Jenkins, I can read. I can read. I can read. I guess it all depends what "mentioned" means, doesn't it, as you go about labelling everything you bump into racist?

and it is going a long way with me in how I am going to approach things from now on, but then you come along and remind me just why things are where they are

Oh, I see, if I stop objecting to you calling our group racist, maybe you won't in the future? How many things are wrong with that. Well, for starters, I'm not easily threatened. I'm not even threatened that you call us racist -- and you do -- I just mock you for it. Second, too many of our group are aware of your penchant for twisting to enter into any deal. In case you can't tell, I think Mudboy Slim, nice as he is, is incredibly naive to think he can talk with you and not, two months from now, find some totally false version of events on a website.

No deal. No dice. I won't be nice to you in exchange for your promise not to call us racist in the future. Why deal with someone who won't even admit what they already said? It's just like you say on your website -- if people are not leftists, you worry that they support so much that is against people of color that even if they say they're not racists, you don't trust them not to be.
