Tribute To HEROES

While the dogtag is used to provide information on an individual serviceman,
I also believe that the chain which holds them represents a connection to all
servicemen, no matter where you served, how you served or when you served.

.

The Minuteman in 1776 has a connection to the soldier fighting in Afghanistan today.
That connection is every individual who has ever served in the United States Military.

Each of us represents a link in the chain that connects that Minuteman of
over 200 years ago to the soldier in Afghanistan today.

The great intangible of America's wars beyond logistics,
beyond strategy, beyond wonder weapons and Generals,
is the spiritual force of its fighting men and women -
and that is the force that the USO so serves.

Snow Bunny. . .

I just read the following note:

"God bless you all and God bless the Chappy Swank, I love him already.

Your friend and family member of the Canteen cottage

Carol
US Army"

Well, Carol, dear friend, my petitions to the Lord are on your behalf this evening and always. Much appreciation for taking the time and heart to write such encouraging words.

Be assured that you are always prayed for--you and those close to you. It is the honor of the rest of us to intercede on your behalf before the heavenly throne.

Blessings to you this evening from friends here in Maine. . .

Chap Grant

Good evening everybody! Yiiiippeeeeee! It's Monday and that means Mail Call! It's so great to get to hear from the troops. Thank you, Snow Bunny, for posting their e-mails each week.

Howdy!! to our troops, veterans, and allies wherever you may be. A big Thank You! ((HUG)) for your service to our country. God bless all of you.

I'm just getting here but it looks like things are wound up tonight! Tomkow's been shanghied by Humoris of Borg again and, OMG! Tonk, are we supposed to fly that? LOL!! Look out Canteen! Hide, Beamer!!

Time to e-mail the troops and join in the mischief. giggle!

(is FR bogged down again tonight?)

Hi, Buns. Was your weekend as busy as ours? Sheesh! Mr. Redhead got to wear his tux again for a very special occasion. He is 4th Degree KC, and was invited to participate in a special Mass yesterday morning. When we got there (tiny old church, packed to the rafters. The ushers had to use shoehorns), who showed up but the Archbishop of St. Paul/Mpls. It was a beautiful service in honor of LIFE. The colors were presented by Army husband/wife. Old Glory ALWAYS gives me goosebumps when I see her in a color guard! Afterwards, we had to hurry home and change in order to get to St. Paul for a wedding reception, then we had to be back home in time to go south to our parish church to teach the Bible study. Am I the only one in the Canteen whose days go like that? LOL! Remember: NEVER RETIRE. People will think you have all the time in the world!!

Wow! Mail Call Monday. I LOVE this day. It's better than a birthday. Is it my imagination, or are we not only getting MORE emails from the troops, but that they are getting longer and more newsy? What an honor that we have permission to hear from them.

It's wonderful to know the business cards AntiJen and tomkow6 dreamed up are working. I'm glad your Uncle Bert checked it out and told you about it. Snow Bunny created the Canteen as a home away from home for our troops and vets and it's always fun to meet new members of the 'family'. I hope you can come by often.

Thank you to you and to your Uncle Bert for serving our country.

I know things aren't easy out there and I'm glad you can laugh and smile when you stop by the Canteen. Please come by every chance you get.

Thank you to you, your Dad, and your H.S. buddy for your service!

I'm so glad to hear you enjoy coming to the Canteen. I haven't been here long myself and am humbled by the company I've been keeping here (they hate it when I say that, but it's true. LOL!) What a team, huh? We're here day and night to support and entertain our troops so please come by any time. And aren't the Support Our Troops Rally's awesome? There might be a few peaceniks scattered around but there are LOTS of folks who are behind you 100%.

My thanks to you, your Dad, and your uncles for serving this great country.

I'm very aware that war isn't pretty and that's what makes the Canteen so very important to me - - to be able to be here for support and entertainment for our fighting men and women. To ease your minds for just a little while at least.

Was that chopper ride wild or what?! I think Beamer is still a little rattled. We know he at least came out to eat his treats but he hasn't been seen a whole lot....at least not at night. LOL!!!

It's always good to see you. Thank you for serving our country.

Talkin' Ted - USMC

My husband is a great guy. Even though he's a bit shy and doesn't post at the Canteen, he cares deeply about our troops and their welfare. We were going to wait a while to get a computer but he decided to do it now to enable me to contribute more to the Canteen. He knows how important the Canteen is to you and all our troops. I just have to figure the danged thing out - - then LOOK OUT!! LOL!

Thank you for your service from me, Mr. Radu, and all the kitties.

What on earth has "da Bunny" done? She created this 'home away from home' for you and all our troops to hang out in. A place to spend time with friends who care about you and support you in your efforts. She's done a wonderful thing, hasn't she? I'm glad your duties allow you to come by almost every day.

I'm still trying to get over that helicopter ride! I almost need a dose of Dramamine just thinking about it. LOL! I'm a wuss about flying.

Thank you for protecting and defending our Freedom.

Ah HAH!! So YOU'RE the ones leaving the little messes around the Canteen? That's ok. I don't mind cleaning up behind y'all. You aren't that messy and I know you don't always have time to clean up before you head back out. giggle!

It's always great to hear from y'all. Your e-mails have me ROTFL every time.

Thanks to all of you for serving our country.

I'm glad you could find comfort at the Canteen during the few days of bad news from home. That's why we're here 24/7...support, comfort, and entertainment. I consider it an honor to serve our troops in any way I can and the Canteen that Snow Bunny created gives me one outlet and opoortunity. I hope you can stop by the Canteen often.

Thank you so much for your service to our country.
