Bellingham, Wash. -- Lynne Farmer doesn't know what it is about the bar she bought four years ago, but it attracts killers like honey attracts flies.

Farmer shakes her head, sips from a long-neck bottle of Coors Light and rattles off the stone-cold killers who have wet their whistles at Waterfront Seafood and Bar.

Probably because it's one of those old fashioned West Coast bars where nobody bothers you and you can nurse a beer for hours, most of the customers are regulars and local, but anyone's welcome. Back before the Left Coast went trendy, there were thousands of those places, now I suppose they mostly survive in places with big working class populations or well out-of-the-way rural and semi-rural areas of the West: parts of WA, Eastern Oregon, the forgotten corner of California.

Better to drink where Ted Bundy et. al. used to drink than to dine where Jeffrey Dahmer used to eat. <|:)~

Those kinds of bars used to be all up and down the East Coast too.

Newport, RI and Portland, Maine and Portsmith NH and Newburyport, MA, all gone fern bar now.

Non-smoking, white wine drinking ("Never trust anyone who drinks white wine," - Betty Davis), politially correct, clean restrooms, fake memorabilia, bad overpriced sandwiches and burgers, canned clam chowder.

Ugh!
