It's actually better than I expected. It could easily have ended with ten times as many hostages dead. It's nothing short of miraculous. Thank God. I can't figure out how a gas could be delivered so quickly, especially without killing a lot of people.
Now that the word is out though, terrorists will be carrying gas masks the next time around.

From what I understand, the brilliance of the plan was that they didn't attempt to deliver the gas quickly, but instead slowly over a long period. Hence the terrorists didn't realize what was taking place. I believe that they used the broken water pipe, and there was reports of the hostages being nauseated and passing out during the last day.
