It appears that this was a huge success, as long as these reports are not the usual Russian distortions! I tend to think that if our NEWS reporters are there, these reports are probably accurate.

Are we training the Russian Special Forces? :-)

Actually I think special forces rankings tend to go like this:

SAS>Spetznatz>everone else.
Of course Spetnatz is not quite as well funded as it was during Soviet times, but what is properly kept up r0x0rz.

Not directly[that I know of]...

We do have Military liasons/advisors who cross train with regular Russian forces. It never fails that the Russians want to know more than just how your gun works. I have personally shown Russian Soldiers how to take down M-60s, .50 Cal and Mark 19's...but never took any through CQB tactics.

With that said...the tactics and marksmanship are about as refined as they are gonna get. Now preparation, positioning and using technology to handle different/fluid scenarios is the hook. Where that is concerned we are tops....the Russians [and the World, save the British] lags behind in those areas.

With that said...the Russians have plenty of "shooters".
