Actually I think special forces rankings tend to go like this:

SAS>Spetznatz>everone else.
Of course Spetnatz is not quite as well funded as it was during Soviet times, but what is properly kept up r0x0rz.

"SAS>Spetznatz>everone else."

No disrespect intended but not in a million years.

The training and equipment of American Delta units blows away British SAS & SBS. The Russian have good marksmen but their equipment is nowhere near comparable.

I would place them in groupings...

Delta, Green Berets

Seals, Spetnaz, SAS & SBS, Marine FAST Companies

Rangers, Marine Recon

The American and British units all have ongoing combat experience through Afghanistan and the Phillipines. The Russians are playing in Chechnya...but they dont use SpecFor like the west does.

From what I have read, the old 'Special Purposes' troops of Soviet days were both feared and respected throughout the world. If they pulled off an Entebbe (sp?)-like rescue, I guess they are indeed still being kept up well.
