Explosion, Gunfire Heard From Moscow Theater Where 600 Hostages Being Held by Chechen Rebels

The Associated Press

M O S C O W, Oct. 25 — Chechen rebels threatened to begin killing their 600 hostages in a Moscow theater at dawn Saturday, but later promised to free the captives if Russian President Vladimir Putin declared an end to the war in Chechnya and began withdrawing troops.

A few hours after the demands became known, an explosion and gunshots were heard from the theater early Saturday but an AP photographer with a view of the building's entrance saw no signs of a blast. There was no official comment, and earlier most journalists were moved away from the theater.

In the last two days Kavkaz.org has been "down" ( no one could get onto it) and now they come up again, with a message that they are under construction...Everything that was there just a few days ago is gone, opening flash, everything....

Another Terrorist Website from Atlanta, Georgia! What Evil lurks in Atlanta?

It appears to be coming back online in Atlanta Georgia. It is possible that the domain is simply 'parked' at this location, until they can find a more permanent home. At the moment the site is "under construction". Why not take a minute and send an email to the Legal and Abuse departments of Interland and ask them why they are supporting terrorists?

I remember "playing" with M112 blocks of "C" to deduce just how close to a blast one could be and remain on their feet and awake per se. It was an experiment in dynamic entry studies we assisted with......

It is not far fetched IMO to think explosives in this case were used to stun the targets and some very good snap shooting followed by "operators" that had inserted themselves into the mix not unlike the op we saw in South American tunnel project to pop into that embassy.

Water and or sprinkler systems activated as diversion and or safety and 10% "acceptable " casualty rate and it's over.........

Just a guess of course :o)..........Stay Safe !

I'm glad to hear in Russia they condemmed the hostage taking and I'm not at all suprised the Buddhist Monks prayed for the hostages well being. I wish those things would happen in this country. We have CAIR making statements condeming so called racial profiling against Muslims, very few clerics in the US have come out strongly against terrorism in any form. As a matter of fact, more then a few have praised the acts of terrorism all over the world.

I could also go into the Middle East but we all know what is done/said over there.

"The Russians have killed more Muslims than the reverse."

That's good but still not good enough.

Looking at the bombs they are displaying, is that plastic explosives?

I dunno. In Russia and Chechnya, anything is possible from black powder to Semtex. Most likely it is military-grade Semtex. I've pinged Squantos. That's his area of expertise.

One bomb shown was pretty good sized, I'd say about the size of a small duffelbag.

Sometimes,a cigar is just a cigar.(G)Most likely it WAS just a regular dufflebag that held their clothes, passports, food, etc.

What I can't figure out is why the first cops who stopped them would have let them go. From all the reports I've read, there was a hold cut in the trunk big enough for the rifle muzzle to protrude and give the scope a view,AND the back seat had been removed from the car so the shooter could crawl back inside the car and climb into the front seat without leaving the car. The cops would have HAD to have seen this, and I can't figure out why this wouldn't have made a rookie cop with 1 day on the job suspiscious enough to have asked them to look in the trunk.

The Russians have killed more Muslims than the reverse.

And Saddam Hussein and the Iraquis have killed more fundie Muslims than Russia. So what? This doesn't mean the Russians haven't suffered a lot of casualities.

The Chechens only have the stomach for hit and run ambushes. It takes a different mentality to attack entrenched positions head on.

It takes MAJOR "stones". It's gotta be the scariest thing you will ever do.

Thanks man. You've really rendered a service to interested people on this posting board. It's my weekend project to make a subject letter template and blast a copy off to these addresses.
