Explosion, Gunfire Heard From Moscow Theater Where 600 Hostages Being Held by Chechen Rebels
The Associated Press
M O S C O W, Oct. 25 Chechen rebels threatened to begin killing their 600 hostages in a Moscow theater at dawn Saturday, but later promised to free the captives if Russian President Vladimir Putin declared an end to the war in Chechnya and began withdrawing troops.
A few hours after the demands became known, an explosion and gunshots were heard from the theater early Saturday but an AP photographer with a view of the building's entrance saw no signs of a blast. There was no official comment, and earlier most journalists were moved away from the theater.

Now Reuters is saying That the hostage casualties are no more than 10. A quote from their article: "We have been told by the Foreign Ministry and our investigation shows that there is a maximum of 10 hostages killed," said Australian diplomat Kevin Magee at the scene.

What a great job the Russians didThey really did and also they had a great deal of help and support from us, UK, France, Spain, Germany, and maybe Israel too. One of the best parts of this was seeing all those countries sending specialists over there to help out.
The world unites against islamic terror.

THE AL QAEDA CONNECTION
. . . In December 1994, Jokar Dudayev, a former Soviet air-force general, began fighting for an independent Chechnya. Since then, Moscow has seen a series of bombings which are thought to have been carried out by Chechen Islamists.
That al Qaeda has trained these Chechens and perhaps even planned some of their operations is clear. In fact, the Chechen conflict has long been seen by bin Laden as but one front in the global jihad which began on February 14, 1989, when the last Soviet soldiers Afghanistan. . . .

The CNN translator had goofed. I think the spokesmen said some terrorists were missing or something like that, not escaped.

The CNN translator had goofed. I think the spokesmen said some terrorists were missing or something like that, not escaped. Actually, the spokesman did say that some escaped. He even said that if they turn themselves in they will be guaranteed not to be killed. Which is interesting, because Russia has a moratorium on death penalty, and the guy on Moscow's Channel 1 who was inside, said that all terrorists had a "control" shot to the head. Spetznaz was making sure.

Lenta.ru started with ten and then went to 30. Wonder if some of the gassed people, if they were, woke up?

This is nothing new. Khattab (killed not that long ago), one of the most infamous "chechen" warlords, was actually a Jordanian. Also, all mojahedeen seem to be wahabbi, and are promoting wahabbism - which is not the Islam as is historically practiced by Chechens.

Well, Mayor of Moscow said that its not more then 30. An Austrian diplomat was told by some russian officials that its 10... Who knows. In either case its far less then what any of us expected or would have accepted.

Thanks for the clarification. I assumed he meant the people who assited the terrorist would not be killed if they turn themselves in.

NOVOSTI is reporting, according to a well placed source in FSB, this terrorist act was aided from abroad and FSB already has leads.
To: BrooklynGOP
Yes, they knocked them out, then entered and shot all of the terrorists in the head.
Brutally efficient.
Wouldn't have been a good moment for any of the hostage ladies to be wearing a scarf.

hmmm. bet it's the saudis.

It's was new to me....as I must admit to being ignorant of things Russian, generally, or Chechen, specifically. And since the alphabet channels thrive on glossing-over these "little facts" of AQ connection to Chechen, well, it's not surprising that many don't know about this. All I've heard the past day or so is "rebels" or "possible" terrorism.....the liberal media, I hope, will one day pay for what they are helping do to our country. Ultimately, however, individuals are responsible for sticking their heads in the sand and not caring enough to at least try to stay informed. The Rise and Fall of the Roman Empire is repeating itself in our country and most everybody seems (willingly) oblivious.

Yes, they knocked them out, then entered and shot all of the terrorists in the head. They didn't get knocked out. Spetsnaz just made sure that the dead are actually dead. Hitman style.
