Actually, the spokesman did say that some escaped. He even said that if they turn themselves in they will be guaranteed not to be killed. Which is interesting, because Russia has a moratorium on death penalty, and the guy on Moscow's Channel 1 who was inside, said that all terrorists had a "control" shot to the head.
