We hope you have enjoyed the very first International Week on FR's Finest. Today's thread is beyond being "International". It is "Out of this World"....lol....

For Petunia7 - my comet picture.
Okay, so it's not exactly authentic - that's her forte.

You're first and you could've fooled me...looks like a comet...Good to see you here so early (or late as the case may be)...lol.

I was just about to shut down when I was pinged to your post. In my haste to come in and be one of the first to congratulate Petuniasevan on being the FRiday FReeper in the spotlight, I must confess, I have only skimmed over this excellent and "out of this world" tribute you have done for her. I promise to come back in the morning when I am not so sleepy and read this tribute and properly applaud Petuniasevan's contributions to FreepRepublic. :-)
Good night daisy, good night all.

Thank you very much, Daisy, Billie, dansangel, and MamaBear. It's an honor to be featured at A Few of FR's Finest.
To all: by all means ask questions, and be sure to visit the APOD. The APOD links listed in the above profile are a nice sample. Don't worry if you're a "newbie" at astronomy, no question is too "dumb" to ask.
As well as my amateur self, there are several other amateurs and professional astronomers who post on the APOD, such as RightWhale, RadioAstronomer, Graewoulf, sleavelessinseattle...
We try to learn and have a bit of fun at the same time, so don't be surprised to see some puns and joking going on at times.
Again, thanks to those who honor me with tonight's Finest thread. And thanks to all who support Freerepublic.

You are very welcome. It is a pleasure to highlight you and the Astonomy Picture of the Day thread today. We at the Finest know what it involves in posting a daily thread on FR...It's a lot of fun.....but........
I am not science oriented at all but I loved reading some of your threads. And one comment by a poster stuck with me....I am paraphrasing a bit but this poster said something like..."Thanks for posting the Astonomy Picture of the Day. I do not often post on this thread but it is always my last stop on FR at night."
I am afraid I am about to turn into a pumpkin. I will return tomorrow. In the meantime, here is some coffee and bagels for late-nighters and early risers.
To: Mama_Bear
I am shutting down too Lori but look forward to seeing you tomorrow. I know how much you appreciate the military and I have a photo to post that you will like very much.
To: All
I will try to peek in at the thread before I leave for work at 2 PM.
I'm not an early riser so I'd better get to bed NOW.

Good morning Daisy.

Thanks for the ping! The coffee and snacks are delicious for star us star-gazers.
This is a well-deserved honor for our host, petuniasevan!

In memory of my fellow Vietnam helicopter pilots who were killed in that war the following were lost on todays date. God bless them all.
1969 CPT Dwight J. Thornton -- B/101 AVN 101 ABN, Age 30, Albany, Georgia
1969 WO1 Milbert W. Hamilton -- B/101 AVN 101 ABN, Age 25, St Paul, Minnesota
In memory of CPT Thornton and WO1 Hamilton -- B/101 AVN 101 ABN "Kingsmen".
"A tribute to a fellow Kingsmen"
"I flew quite a bit with Dwight, or "Capt. Thumper", as he was known. We flew a lot of special missions together, and as a result, I got to know him quite well. When we flew the "FOB" or "CCN" missions, Capt. Thornton was always willing to go the distance to help the guys on the ground. As a Kingsmen, he gave eveything he had. As a Kingsmen, may we never forget what he gave."

What a nice surprise to wake up to! I have been on the APOD ping list for quite some time and enjoy the wonderful photos and information that petuniasevan provides! As a teenager, I had a telescope and hung on to it in storage up until 4 years ago when my storage bin was broken into and it was stolen. :-(
I LOVE smileys! I have a very paltry collection compared to you, petuniasevan. I started looking through yours and decided that would be a treat for later when I get home....otherwise I'll get into all kinds of trouble here at work!! LOL!
Meanwhile:
Have a wonderful day (it's FRIDAY!!! YAY!!!) Daisy, thank-you for such a great Friday thread! Petuniasevan, thank-YOU for APOD!

Thank-you for your remembrance. We have 2 more fine heroes to pray for.
May they live on in our hearts and in God's loving embrace. May their families gain comfort in knowing that their loved ones are heroes.
To: petuniasevan
BRAVO! Keep those APODs coming!
