Welll...guess what? According to the Baltimore County Prosecutor on the Ron Smith show, the Sniper CAN NOT get the death penalty in Maryland. Only "Mass Murderers" NOT "Serial Killers" are eligable. Go crazy and kill 'em all at once in the same place, you get the needle nap. Cold blooded, calculated, serial murder and terrorism gets you a lifetime of 3 hots, cablevision, and weight-room privileges. Go figure.

No, that is too quick,I am pro-death penalty, but we should obey the MD law. There is nothing in the law that would require us to not give them life imprisonment as part of what is known as 'the general population'. There are two things about your average prison that are always true: 1. The vast majority believe they are innocent even if they admit they did it, through some bizaare rationale 2. They are extremely patriotic.

I believe that some would see a small way of repaying their debt to society....the beauty of it is we could avoid a lengthy trial, which is its own kind of terrorist victory

I heard that the gun was not connected to Alabama though and that it was a finger print on an actual magazine not a gun magazine of the 17 yr old. He won't get the chair there.

Lesson 1 from the Rodney King trial: The feds can charge them with violating the civil rights of the victims and obtain convictions. I doubt that the federal death penalty applies to that, but that would be a start. Then the FEDS could decide that good ol' Virginia should get next crack at them...

My wording is not correct in the last, but in a nutshell, if the Gov't say's "this is our deal, we retain rights", the states must conceed...I'm still trying to find the subsection...will try and post it when I find it..

Murder is not a federal crime except for certain circumstances, including a federal agent in the line of duty. The FBI person who was killed was not on duty. I don't think that the feds have a murder case.

Even though more killings took place in MD, the perps should be tried where they will face the greatest punishment.

Each one of those killings is a separate crime.

Regardless of what Maryland does, Virginia has the right to extradite him for murder in Virginia, trying him and execute him if convicted.

A couple of possibilities. The person who cosigned for the car in New Jersey. The source of the rifle used (John Mohammed could not legally buy). Also need to determine if anyone helped modify the car.

And I just read elsewhere on FR that AL will press capital murder charges on M&M. Doesn't matter one iota to me where they ride the needle. Just as long as they ride it someplace.

It should become an issue in MD. I would like to hear KKT argue the worth in keeping these terrorists alive.

I would like to hear Bill O'Reilly argue the worth in keeping these two in prison the rest of their lives. According to O'Reilly, they don't deserve death...death would be too easy for them. He says they (and all death-eligible convicts) should get life with no parole and be made to suffer the rest of their days, having to stew over what they did. Personally, I don't agree.
