The media can ruin any one of us at any time. And they control the politicians, who worship at the alter of Public Opinion.
I'm speaking only for myself...those of us who live here are withholding our joy, for the moment...we are going by "innocent until the bullets stop flying".
I think a lot of what you're seeing here is backlash against the media. Myself, I'm certainly tired of being branded simply because I'm a gunowner. I don't deny that I hope the culprit runs counter to the "angry white male NRA gun-nut" stereotype.

Well, it appears that the defense lawyers are already preparing their screed. This is the work of white militia groups who have obviously set up these two innocent citizens. We all remember that those fascist militia groups were under investigation when these two hapless souls were hauled in by the Man. Ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury, we submit to you and your reasonableness that the Government framed our clients when it was discovered that white Republicans were the real culprits. It is reasonable to doubt that these followers of the Religion of Peace could have perpetrated these heinous crimes since you all know that only whites kill people of color.
Looks like a slam dunk to me...
