Look more carefully at what I replied to. What I said had nothing to do with sniper origin, and everything to do with bad humor (I used to work in the department of redundancy department). Would it have helped if I had said "right-wing butler"?
Everyone should see this; towards the bottom of his post.
I remember that post, now that I see it, and remember thinking it some of the best-thought-out conjecture of the time. Good job, bluecollarman.
I haven't discounted anything, but am not willing to jump on any particular bandwagon because we don't know what the motivations are. As I said before, I'm very concerned about the desire on the part of a few here to deport/off all muslim-americans.
How drool. I don't think I was ever exposed to the actual FBI or police profiles during the shooting spree. But from what I've read over the years from John Douglas books and articles on criminal profiling, religious belief and fanaticisms hardly ever enter the picture without some form of message left behind at the scene or in direct communications with police or media. They didn't find a message until the twelfth shooting. There wasn't any verbal communication until after the first written message was received.
Have to respect someone with the courage not to let the facts mess up their theory.
To paraphrase a magnificent entrepentuer, there's a dupe born every minute. Maybe this guy was so hyped up to be considered worth interviewing he hadn't listened to the news for the past several days.
"if the government wanted me to know things, they'd tell me."
"We're from the government, and we're here to help you."
I have often said that deportation wouldn't help us significantly. We could not have deported the American citizens in the Buffalo cell (only one was a non-citizen) nor the American citizens in the Portland cell (only one or two were non-citizens). You couldn't have deported this guy, nor John Walker Lindh, nor Jose Padilla.
We have a huge number of potential terrorists in this country who are citizens. Therefore, to solve this problem, it is silly to pretend that radical Islam has no connection to any of the fringe groups, and that includes gangs, Black Muslims, eco-terrorists, and certain mosques in this country. The sooner we figure out how to identify and combat this, and the sooner we are suspicious about some people's allegiances, the better off we will be.
I am leaving for the afternoon. I am not trying to abridge your speech. I was merely commenting that it was annoying.
I will not eat it with a fox.
I will not share it with an ox.
I will not keep it in my socks.
I will not secure it with padlocks.
I do not like your use of "box".
I curse your household with a pox!
I don't need to assume anything. For instance, I know he is a Black American. I've seen his picture posted on this and several news sites. Likewise, I don't assume he converted to muslimism (sic), I know for a fact that he is a muslim convert, from reading the reports and from the quote by his first ex-wife.
As for protecting ourselves from anti-american and anti-infidel types, well for one we can stay vigilant and observant to our surroundings and suspicious activity, Not all future terrorists or terrorist wannabes are going to be Calypso Louie and NOI adherents, some may be white, asian, south asians (aryan), native americans or hispanics. One lesson to be learned from this episode is that we keep a cool head and a sharp eye at all times and refuse to panic at the drop of a hat.
Apples....oranges.........what's the difference really?
If it is any consolation, I went back and scanned a few posts to see what the big deal was and I think I understand.
Back when everyone was up in arms over Elian (Cuba-dooba-do!) I simply asked, begged even, for someone to help me understand why they thought my position was wrong. I didn't even "like" my position on the issue, but had concluded logically that it was appropriate. I stated ALL of this and yet I was flamed mercilessly by jerks who were more interrested in name calling than discussion of the issue. William Wallace was kind enough to provide links to enable me to understand why the other point of view was superior. Please understand that I am not drawing a parallel with your situation, I only saying that people who are willing to discuss an issue civily and objectively can be few and far between.
keep on pluggin'
Gad, I suppose if one of the Columbine kids had come from a Muslim family, you would be telling me there was an Al-Queda connection.
I haven't had time to read the 10,000 posts here on Free Republic regarding the sniper but I'll bet someone is already alleging a link to Saddamn. The Sniper met with Saddam in Prague or there's a mosque in Tacoma with ties to Al Qaeda and this guy used to drive past it every day on his way to work. Anyway, you heard it here first. The next headline: "Sniper an Iraqi Agent" or "Sniper Worked For Saddam."
Interesting info [3rd link doesn't work].
Notice that no one posts links about Muslim goodwill toward the U.S.
My bad, try this...
Colorado's investigation indicated that the United States FUQRA movement was composed of approximately 30 different 'Jamaats' or communities, somewhat mobile in nature. Most of these 'Jamaats' are believed to currently exist today, along with what investigators deemed to be several 'covert paramilitary training compounds' -- one of which had been located in a remote mountainous area near Buena Vista, Colorado prior to Colorado's prosecutions in the mid-1990s. The corresponding FUQRA 'Jamaat' to the Buena Vista compound was located in Colorado Springs, Colorado
One of the FUQRA defendants convicted is James D. Williams. After his conviction in 1993 for conspiracy to commit first degree murder, racketeering, and forgery, Williams fled and remained a fugitive until being apprehended in Virginia in August 2000. He was returned to Colorado and sentenced this past March to 69 years in prison. From at least the middle 1980's through 1990, Williams was a leader of a Colorado FUQRA.

I asked her if she was off her meds ... but she denied ever being on them. ;o)
And yet, the sniper insisted that the police broadcast the phrase "Like A Duck In a Noose" (LADIN, Bin Ladin). Gee, no connection to terrorism?!
Hey, how about snipers loose in Washington, D.C., like that isn't a hint that it's terrorism (location, location, location)?! Or how about that the snipers were caught on the road to Bush's Camp David retreat today?!
Plus, one and maybe both snipers are Jamaican, ala the Richard Reid (press won't use his Islamic name) shoe bomber.
How about a Black Panther/Jamaican crime gang connection to the murder in Alabama's Black Belt that seemed to kick off this whole terroristic spree?
No connection to terrorsism?! Does someone PAY these guys to act so dumb?!
