The "experts" who said the sniper was a right-wing white guy and the anthrax (vanity)

While not all evidence is in, it looks like the sniper was a Muslim. Huge surprise to some.

All the newsmedia talking heads and the "expert" profilers, have been saying the sniper was a white domestic right-wing domestic. Even as more evidence mounted that this could possibly be terrorism, the networks did all they could to steer clear of it.

Freepers have been saying this was Islamic terrorism since day one. I guess that makes the Freepers smarter than the people whose job it is to profile. But we're really not smarter we just have common sense, and we're not afraid to be un-PC. We are at war with Islam, and anybody who tries to pretend that we're not is a fool.

One of the anthrax mailings said something along the lines of "death to america, death to israel, allah is great". This led the experts to believe that this is a domestic right wing terrorist. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that just like in the sniper case, the "experts" are wrong. We're at war with Islam here people, wake up.

It is hardly a leap of faith to note that anti-Christian and aniti-Western attitudes are a foundational factor of the practice of Islam.

Because THIS is the sentiment that frightens me on FR.

Are you ruling out that this guy might be a black muslim American who is homegrown criminal? Are you convinced he has connection to foreign terror networks? Are you convinced all black muslim Americans are?

Not so fast. We know

1) He apparently had anti-U.S. sentiments for a LONG time, even while in the Army;

Maj. Bevacqua on FOX pointed out that the Army has been increasingly concerned about "sleepers" who are joining specifically to get sniper and military training. He did not say Muslims---quite the contrary, he said the cases he knew about were LA gang members, but the implication was laid out;

3) Muhammad has apparently SOME links to this camp, which Scotland Yard tied to Al-Quaeda;

4) all the arrest warrants have not been served yet, indicating there are plenty of people with information; and

5) the phrase "duck in a noose" sure sounds to me like a terrorist activation phrase. Now,

you are arguing that just because he was dumb enough (if that's what it was) to knock of a 7/11, doesn't make him a terrorist. Er, do you recall that

1) Richard Riady looked the way he did, and still tried to set his shoes on fire? (That qualifies as dumber).

2) That some of the 9/11 terrorists almost missed their connecting flights?

3) That dozens of "suicide bombers" have mistakenly blown themselves up before even gettin in the same county as their targets?

My point is, I think you are ascribing way too much sophistication to ALL Al-Quaeda-related activities. Yes, 9/11 was brilliantly planned, for the most part. But this was their home run. 90% of the time they strike out, and I suspect that 9/11 was their "best and brightest," not to mention most hateful, kooky nuts, as well. So, no, the involvement in the 7/11 robbery does NOT exculpate him as being a terrorist, or an Al-Quaeda-related operative.

I agree that annie's opinion is "mind boggling." No one here is saying kill all Muslims. But she seems to purposely disregard who our real enemies are - the Islamokazi's. She's probably just a closet lib causing trouble.

Ah, diversity. Can the there be a national Board meeting on it? It seems like a good time for a new cost-benefit analysis.

Maybe the New York State Supreme Court knew what it was doing when they ruled that islam was NOT to be considered a "religion" to be protected by the First Ammendment, bu trather to be "harrassed." NYSC, 1892.

Miss...

Bush has called this a war. I can accept that. ALL of those that we are at war with are "MUSLIMS". I have been amazed that some older residents here on FR have been eager to defend the two that are in custody. As long as the profile was an angry, male, white, redneck, Christian, these same people said nothing. Not one word in objection.

Once it appeared they were in fact Muslims and black, out of the woodwork came the apoligists. It seems that some here on FR have managed to remain well hidden.

I hadn't heard that this guy has been to the Alabama camp. That means the owner of that camp is lying as he has been called and says this guy has never been there and he's never heard of him. That tape was played on FOX.

"A Single Shooter, Dark Skin or Black Man, 20-30, Muslim with US Military Training with M-16, probably Marine. Maybe hired or just pissed off."

This was my profile prediction on 8 oct...

Wow, I've got to remember your name if you make future FR prognostications. From what we now know, you got the following right:

1) single shooter
2) black male
3) Muslim
4) US military training
5) pissed off

You were off over a decade on the age and it was Army, not Marine, but that's close enough.

Because you all are making a connection where no evidence exists, and it makes us all seem ridiculous.

Because there are some people who get emotionally carried away and post extreme generalizations does not mean that you must assume that the opposite extreme is the way to go.

Are you thinking that al Qaeda, Hammas, and Hezbollah wouldn't think about funneling money into the Black Muslims and inciting them to violence? Are you thinking that every American citizen who perpetrates an act or acts of terror does it in a vacuum?

I have been on those sniper threads since this first broke. I tried to keep an open mind about the case, and listened to both points of view. I actually thought it would turn out to be Hispanic guys, myself. I never considered a Black Muslim (although my husband did).

Why are you so upset about this? I do not understand your thinking or motivation.

Huge disappointment to others(CNN,ABC,CBS,NBC....)"IF" this is the case. If so this whole thing will cease to get the airtime it has up until now. The PC(not DC) police will take over.

American muslims (many of who are Christian) . . .

LOL. A bit of confusion here. Probably a typographical error. You seem attached to a narrow definition of "terrorism" and "international terrorism." Good for you. I happen to have a broader definition. Any person who sympathises with the folks who flew planes into the WTC, and who is --willing-- to act or assist violence for similar reasons, is a terrorist in my book. "Hate America" is enough for me.

Excuse me, but has anyone mentioned the concept yet that this is, at its most base level, a HATE crime?

There's a problem with that. The sniper, whoever he is, shot and killed people of more then one race. mafree knew one of the victims, I believe. He was black.

Too bad 9/11 and the current TERRORISM doesn't frighten you as much. You need to wake up and smell the carnage.
Read this article to the finish. This is WAR.

Don't flatter yourself...Freepers were saying it was a Muslim Terrorist...Ala Muhammad Atta. This guy took a Muslim last name (Some say he did it 14 years ago, some say last year). Definately NOT the same thing...

Muslims killing Infidels. It doesn't matter if they're black, white or Arab.

I think I will write another note to the loathesome Howard Fineman, who accused President Bush of not federalizing this in order to score political points, and also was whining that the President hasn't been on TV 24/7 leading the charge to catch this guy. (As a bonus, Howard also said that Chief Moose was in over his head.)

Ah, I love it when those media pundits are proven wrong! It makes me quite happy.
