Since this morning, I've been thinking that the FBI may have profiled these two (and possibly others) much earlier and more accurately than is being said. Of course such information was not released because of the uproar, "profiling," a black would create amongst certain groups. This would also explain Chief Moose (a black man) being hung out in front of the cameras so often, even when he didn't have anything useful to say...it was an effort to gain the confidence and/or sympathy of a black killer.
Those of us outside this investigation may never know...

I hadn't thought of it, but if they suspected the killers were black (and Muslims, too), then having Chief Moose out front would help tamp down any anger from any communities directed against "the Man" picking on one of "their own".
