Sniper-Related Warrants Issued In Alabama
Authorities Search Suspected Terrorist Training Camp

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Search warrants related to the D.C.-area sniper case were served Wednesday in various parts of the country, including the state of Alabama.
Sources told NBC13 that federal authorities from Montgomery were in the city of Marion in Perry County Wednesday night, armed with a warrant, and were searching property.
The search warrants are reportedly for a terror camp called "Ground Zero," which is located in Marion. The camp was discovered earlier this year following the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks in New York.
At the time, authorities thought militants from overseas trained at Ground Zero. There has been no official connection between the camp and the al-Qaida terror network. The owner of the camp said it was a training area for police officers.
NBC13 spoke with camp owner Mark Yates, of Tuscaloosa, who says he knows nothing of any investigation into his camp. Perry County Sheriff James Hood also told NBC13 federal authorities have not contacted him.
The Alabama search warrants were issued hours after authorities started searching a property in Tacoma, Wash. NBC13 has also learned that an Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms agent from Alabama is assisting in the investigation in Tacoma.
Sources are describing the issuance of Wednesday's warrants both in Washington state and in Alabama as attempts to follow up on "solid leads."
Developments in this story are unfolding. NBC13 News and NBC13.com will have the latest details on the sniper search and the possible Alabama connection as they become available.

Oh wonderful. Wonder if FBI is going to barge into the home of everyone who hits that web site.
I suppose it's safe to say since I never said anything like that. They will go after the business guns.
local sheriff notified authorities that Ground Zero had some foreigners coming in shooting up a police car
That would be a felony. He wouldn't have to notify any other authority at all. He could have just arrested them. This sounds like one of those stories which is intended to mislead and deceive. Got a link to the story?
Oh sorry, perhaps the House defeated Bush's attempt at restoring restoring food stamps to legal immigrants as discussed in the URL below.

No, it's not a felony to shoot up a junked police car. The picture isn't the best, but you can make out the black and white police car in front of the berm at the Ground Zero shooting range. You've got to learn to chill out and cease crying "Wolf!" so often, too.
Who about this section of that "screed of bullsh!t".
"And last month, when Bush tried to restore food stamps to some legal immigrants who lost them in the 1996welfare bill, most House Republicans opposed him."
Nice to know where our president is coming from isn't it?
S/B What about this section of that "screed of bullsh!t"?
Ahhh...so they were doing nothing illegal whatseover and the Sherrif should have minded his own business.
Methinks you owe me an apology. Sad that I have to point that out. After posting that picture, most people would have figured that out all on their own...
You clearly don't know Alabama.
That is obvious.
My server was having problems last night, but it seems to be loading o.k. now. Sorry about that.
Amen to that! When ABC first broke this Marion story in September, my curiosity was peaked. Marion, AL (home of Marion Institute) is a relatively small community where everybody knows everybody. A friend of mine has family there and I asked her to get me a little background on the camp if at all possible. When she called her family they had already seen the ABC article and knew of several investigations conducted (post 9/11) on the place. They claimed the information in the ABC article was completely false. The camp was used for law enforcement training and as a private shooting range. Furthermore she speculated that if Al Queda were indeed in Marion, they would stick out like a sore thumb.
