MOSCOW (AP) Armed men entered a Moscow theater Wednesday and took the audience hostage, the Federal Security Service said.
The theater was holding a performance of the musical Nord-Ost, one of the Russian capital's most popular productions.
The Interfax news agency said one of its reporters was inside the theater at the time of the raid. She told them in a telephone call that the men had fired into the air and were preventing the audience from leaving, the agency said.
Police units were on their way to the scene.

I believe the correct figure is $6 billion.

"Thank goodness this could never happen in the USA." Ofcourse not. Once we ban all the firearms, terrorists won't have anything to take hostages with

As awful as it might be, the alternative might be worse.
Lord have mercy on the hostages.

>>How the hell do you do that with 20 guys armed with automatic weapons? Imagine the crossfire. <<
Plus they are each strapped with explosives, and the building is mined.

We've chosen to learn the hard way. And so we shall. Not to worry....the Rats will invent yet another reason to BLAME AMERICA AND BUSH for the bombings and attacks, domestically and abroad.

said the gunmen had allowed members of the audience to make phone calls Sounds familiar.

I remind everyone of the AlQaeda playbook that calls for the takeover of a public building, taking many civilians hostage. The manual calls for the scum to wait until the police AND THE MEDIA ARRIVE IN FORCE, make their point and then blow up the building, including themselves and the hostages. I hope the Spetsnaz is much quicker than they are; but 15-20 boobytrapped terrorists makes this much, much tougher.

They may have no real demands.
They may just be waiting for the world to be watching before they blow up or machine gun the audience.
Explosions often result in extremely fast moving fires as we saw in Bali: they could all die horribly.

And don't think that they can't do it here or that they would have the slightest hesitation in doing it.

I wonder if Putin is rethinking the war on terror right now?I'm sure he wouldn't think of doing anything without the full approval of the UN, and especially France.

Obvious thing is to replace those let go with 700 muslim children. Not thinkable in U.S.A. but this isn't happening in America. You are not thinking like a radical Muslim. They would consider any 700 muslim chilren counter hostages to be fortunate to get an early martyrdom.
They worship murder and death. Theirs, our, anybody's.

Radical Islam is an insane murder cult, "moderate" Islam is its Trojan Horse in the West.

As awful as it might be, the alternative might be worse. Sad but true. God help them.
There are no words to describe my disgust and horror.

Ping in case you haven't seen this yet. This looks like it may end very badly.
