I was wondering about this, or a very similar issue, on the drive home this evening. I don't think the people in general know how easy it is to acquire shooting, or law enforcement, or para-military skills. There's a college near my lab which offers classes in police technique.

In any case, I heard an interview with a "local firearms expert" on the radio, discussing the fact that the shooter is really not all that much of a marksman. Is that fact, is the fact that good marksmanship skills are easy to acquire, a good thing to point out, or will it just scare the people into clamoring for more (ineffective) controls and laws?
