All seems quiet since yesterday's news the shooter may target children specifically. It was released on various news outlets the shooter's 3-page letter to police was in broken English and threatened extreme violence. Police announced an electronic transfer of $10m as requested by the shooter was not possible but other options for transfer remain open. No one seriously believes police will actually give the shooter $$, but police are trying to keep a dialogue open with the shooter in an effort to capture this monster.

Interesting post/theory. At this point, I would definitely not rule anything out. And I mean nothing. This thing has been, IMO, blown wide open.

I don't know where you left off, but there have been a number of developments:
Searches in Washington State and Alabama, a tree stump probably having bullet slugs in it is enroute from Washington State to Washington DC for analysis. Speculation that certain people who lived in Washington State shot the gun used in the Washington DC sniping.
BOLO (be on lookout) issued for two black men, but per Chief Moose, these men are emphatically not considered to be the snipers, but may have material information.
The Alabama search is related to Camp Ground Zero, which BBC reports as a camp used by terrorists to train for various vilolent techniques, including sniping.
Chief Moose says "you (the sniper) have asked us to say that 'we have caught you, like a duck in a noose'"
Lots of fodder for speculation, eh!
