ALthough I must gibve them credit where credit is due, for doing all that they can under the intense scrutiny...

I also must say that most times, they could not find their A$$ with a topo map, a flashlight, a friend, even if playing find the butt shaped pinata, in a room full of drag queens.

I know.

Let's challenge him.

"Chief Moose, "We have this poor bastard shooting innocent people. I bet he doesn't have the guts to shoot at that person standing over there holding that CNN microphone."

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!

I think the media is overkilling this whole business - they play right into his hands by waiting around and talking 24/7 about him...DON'T GIVE THE GUY AIR TIME! All news networks should do it post updates on those little type in messages that roll across the bottom of your screen and that's ALL! And it fuels the fear for all those who live in the area!

Actually, all the reports and articles that I'm seeing say he's doing the best he can;
Ummmm, actually I haven't seen *all* those reports. Where are your reading this?

Well, I'm sure he is doing the best he can. Point is, his "best" is not what I'd call an acceptable performance. Appeasement of this murderer will not bring an end to the murders, and the decision not to release information to the public will delay the capture of this lunatic.

Exactly......The people of that area deserve a leader that can at least project professionalism and give an air of assurance. They are getting neither.

PC/Diversity driven fools on the staff can't even take a message from the sniper. I have posted several times that in the first 2-3 days, this sniper left a message or someone who saw him left a message and it was lost, buried or thrown away. This is even worse than I thought.

The tipline is a fiasco, especially considering what technology can do now. When police set up something like that, they should expect and even hope that the killer will call. According to the Today show, they were scribbling stuff down on carbon paper - easy to lose - and handcarrying it to different jurisdictions. With the off the shelf technology there is today, every call should be digitally archived and pattern-analyzed (there's another outfit in the state of Maryland, No Such Agency, that could give them some pointers on what to buy or borrow). But apparently that isn't happening.

Hope is gone for 9 families. At this point, they should pay the killer. They cant catch him, they may as well try to just stop the killing.

If this is demonstrated to be a financially successful operation, I guarantee to you that we will have 100 sniper teams copying this technique from San Diego to Maine within a few weeks

Howlin, please go to the link below for some insight to Moose. He was Jake Reno's man for the job. Those of us on the West Coast who know of his record as the Portland Police know about his Political Correctness and Diversity worship. That is why he got this job! Under his reign as Police Chief, Portland went from one of the safest cities to a constant crime city with druggies and others committing crime with basically no fear of arrest.

PC Moose link re his profiling: To Grampa Dave | 2002-10-22 08:04:27 sent by xxxxxxxxx (link to PC Moose re profiling)

Excerpt from the report on this link: Summer 1999, the liberal democratic Montgomery County Council hired a new black police chief, Charles Moose. Moose is a long time friend of the liberal, pro-diversity U.S. Department of Justice, and Moose actively promotes "diversity training" for police officers.

His resume reveals that he strongly favors good racial profiling (profile everybody) in order to defeat bad racial profiling. The Montgomery County chapter of the NAACP loved Mr. Moose. Moose was hired largely to help defuse the NAACP's accusations (not proof, but accusations only) of racial bias by the Montgomery County police.

Even Clinton's U.S. Attorney General Janet Reno pitched in to help convince the Montgomery County council to hire Charles Moose. ============================================================

Those who advocate, condone and push Political Correctness are making it unsafe for the rest of us. We are seeing what Political Correctness/Diversity agendas can do to a crime investigation when it runs rampant. Political Correctness can kill innocent people.

The inept handling of this sniper case has sent a loud and clear message to the al Qaeda leadership that the best way to terrorize America is to send sniper cells to the left wing cities/urban areas. The areas that voted big for the goron, with liberal mayors, city councils, DA's, left wing fish wraps and of course PC police chiefs who have worshipped the Diversity God instead of good police work.

We're negotiating with him because we're a sick pasty white nation without the guts to grit our teeth and sacrifice hostages so that we don't let the creeps go.
When a terrorist has a hostage, rule one: Hostage is expendable.
That's just the way it is. And teh way it has to be. It's called 'hardball', and America hasn't the guts for it. (Thank you Democrats!) And yes, before anyone asks, I would prefer to be dead in a hostage situation than to have them negotiate with the scumbags. We have to make it so that going after civilian workers, women, and children and taking hostages is a fatal tactical blunder.
But, thanks to the 60's flower power crowd and the tree huggers and PETA, we care more about endangered frogs and teh terrorists feelings than we actually care about eradicating the scumbags. It seems that America wants to hold hands with the scumbags and sing 'kumbaya.' Like that will work.

the problem with Grampa Dave's suggestion is that this is a large metropolitan area that is transient in nature. There is no guarantee that the sniper is originally FROM this area or attended school here. This might work elsewhere, but in my experience, very few people i have met are FROM here.

Grampa, I understand all that and have read it all. I just don't see what good it does to trash this man who is ONLY DOING HIS JOB; he's there and he's doing the best he can. I have no doubt there are a lot of people pulling his strings.

yeah but maybe someone who saw the handwriting might recognize it- Which leads me to think "why distribute it just to teachers?" Put it on the front page full size.

Hence the reason those notes should be frontpage copy in every newspaper in the US. If the sniper's from this country, someone will recognize the style and/or handwriting.

all i can think is that with all of the thousand of law enforcement personnel on this case someone has thought of and rejected that option for whatever reason. i am firmly convinced that there is way more going on behind the scenes than the armchair detectives (counting myself amongst them!) can ever know.

They're negotiating in hopes he'll drop some clues. They've got a three-page letter now, and keep letting out hints of what's in it. SCAN the thing and put it on the INTERNET. It's a longshot, but there are a lot of linguists who might catch a clue.

Even worse, was the printed out address the Moose held up to mail tips to with the crossed out and corrected Zip Code.

Who in the hell uses mail today when info on a situation like this so important. We live in a country of emails, faxes and voice mails. All of which leave a document to be stored, data based and queried over and over again.

I did not realize that they were scribbling stuff down carbon paper, that makes this whole fiasco even worse.

During the first couple of days I made a couple of replies that due to PC/Diversity queen ineptness, that someone phoned in hard and valid evidence on this killer. Do to the lack of a good system, that data got lost.

Little did I realize that the killer got hung up on several times and even he couldn't leave a message. Then, I read what you have posted about the scribbling and use of carbon paper. It is an even worse crisis, than my first nightmares re the Politically Correct/Diversity driven police force in Montgomery County.

God, please save us from the inept PC police departments around America.

Will someone explain why we're negotiating with this sick #*&!#?

Because it's SOP to keep the perp talking as long and as often as possible in order to increase the chance that he'll slip up and reveal a useful clue.

Talk about how this sniper probably has some sexual problems and is killing people because of it.

Yes -- instead of all this ego-boosting attention, I'd like to see wall-to-wall coverage over whether the sniper is pissed off at the world because he can't stop wetting the bed, because he can't get it up, because his sheep died and he can't find another one as sexy, etc.

WHY HASN'T THE NOTE BEEN RELEASED TO THE PUBLIC?

There is a simple single reason why this letter has yet to see the light of day…

It would reveal the true identity and speak loudly of the shooter(s), they are terrorist.

That's the one thing this country *isn't* ready for right now.
