Won't make this too long here just throwing out an idea here. The cops were watching this pay phone booth yesterday. 2 illegal immigrants pull up to it and we know the rest of the story. I came up with a theory today that I wanted some opinions on. I am thinking that the 2 men a Mexican and a Guataemalen were probably very common user's of this pay phone. Most illegal immigrants resort to using calling cards to call their homeland and usually early in the morning or real late at night depending on the time change of their country to the U.S..

The sniper cell is obviously traveling in different cars here. Maybe having cased a particular route everywhere there are white vans. These guys are watched for a couple of days and he sees that they use this payphone and have a truck fitting the description. Remember calling cards come up or are traced back to the number of the company that issues the card. Only then can the company trace back to what phone booth a call is made from.

So the sniper cell leaves a message from that phone number days ago after the 6th or 7th shooting. The law finally gets the number down and the message from the tips line as calls 8 and 9 come in. The cell demands money for an offshore account. The law tells them we can't do that for you today.

Is it possible that the offshore account was blackmail or extortion to an account that would funnel much needed money to other cells or an organization that found the means to use this money for funding operations? Ala Al Qaeda which trained in these very things? Electronical terrorism...and a host of other things by use of computers and banks.

I truly believe we are in the next wave here and the color chart is still sitting at code 3. Truly showing how useless it is. Al Qaeda and its supporting groups have had its money stripped from them for the most part and choked off. Is this the new means of getting money? They most certainly trained for this. They most certainly made these threats on our childred over the last year. They have most certainly trained for Urban Terrorism.

We have seen the CNN videos captured from Afghanistan. We have been warned of these types of attacks and methods. Yet, our government is trying its best to distance itself from terrorism. They will not show a picture of the missing French soldier who specialized in sniping so to say.

A French terrorist you say? Well who is sitting and playing our government in VIRGINIA like a fiddle? Moussaoi...the 20th hi-jacker.

Still don't think it is terrorism or Al Qaeda related? Prove me wrong...or add to this thread. Explain to me why the accent and the spelling of these notes is screaming of coming from a foreigner not familiar with the English language.

Prove me wrong or give me a reason why it is not Al Qaeda or terrorism FreeRepublic.com.

Why do I feel as if this country is protecting a certain group of people in this country right now because if the truth came out...the government would lose control of the population and the rest of the population would take matters into their own hands.

God how could we ever do that? Actually fight the war on terror on the home front.

Your theory is certainly plausible.

However, I'm not sure that the various back-stabbing Saudi princes lack for money. Plenty of Wahabi wannabes wouldn't mind shaking up the line of ascension to the sandpit throne. Homicide bombers in Israel are still being funded.

My own guess is that the DC sniper is Al Qaeda, and that this is a diversion. He's tying up a heckuva lot of LE resources and personnel. That would make another spectacular attack easier to pull off.

This threat will persist so long as there are mosques in this country.

I would like to know the nationality of the French sniper, besides "French".       I read either on FR or abcnews last night that he was from Yugoslavia.

Perhaps to test whether money could be raised. There was a story about the al jezra interviews, indicating the quaedas wanted a million dollars for the interview -- they are having trouble raising money.

How would asupposedly "brilliant" American expect to collect the money? It would take at least a small group to cash out a funds transfer and get away. No single individual could pull it off. The money angle makes no sense unless several people are involved, some in a foreign country.

Whoever this person is has some knowledge of sniper training and escape and evasion. The area is known; he or she knows their weapon and its potential. I doubt if the same vehicle is being used consistently. The attack area is large and well camouflaged. If this person is a true sniper I would be watching the people he's already wounded cause it's a blemish and he/she may try to reclaim those missed kills. A true sniper isn't easy to kill in the scenario that's been setup. If this is a true sniper, they will be carrying a pistol also for close range support. I hope he/she is caught and executed. It gives those that were trained by the military a bad rap.

I like the way you think. I especially like your liberal use of the phrase, "The sniper cell . . " Beyond that, I just don't know except to say I think there are many shooters involved. They are scattered and I don't believe they are necessarily leaving the area after they pull the trigger.

Whether or not the shooter is AQ, he is providing great source material for the next terrorist camp class. This is possibly ONE guy, probably several at most, making the police and g-men (g-persons? /sarcasm) chase their tails for weeks.
If even .5% of the 8 million muslims in this country are wahabbists, that is 40k. I don't think there are that many sleepers, but even four per major population center using these tactics would be a nightmare.

You know, arranging a bogus phone call might be a useful way to get a look--from an observation point--at what type of unmarked vehicles the SWAT teams are using. Just speculatin'.

you're right that this will only be solved if a citizen sees or hears something and either nails the perp(s) instantly or at least gets the crucial vehicle license number....

what is unbelievable is that apparently NO ONE has been a real witness to the shootings....hard to believe that we have become a nation of such self absorbtion.....

I am a natural busy body and if I heard shots after taking cover I would at least LOOK around ,,,

as far as terrorists...well, no matter what, this is terror...

Our French sniper is probably Muslim, an immigrant to France, perhaps...

Word is that he's from Yugoslavia -- which may or may not mean that he is Muslim. It all depends on whether they were refering to the former Yugoslav Republic, or the present-day Yugoslavia -- which is basically Serbia.
