Moose: Can't Communicate Electronically with you
Fox News ^ | 10/22/00 | Fox News

Posted on 10/22/2002 4:18:38 PM PDT by Koblenz

Mr. Moose just held another news conference. Said the Police Department couldn't communicate electronically with the sniper in the manner he requested. What a mess.

The police said call back to get an 800 number or a PO Box.

A PHD should be able to recite a few lines without a card. He never looks up while he talks and sheepishly walks away waiting for a new card from the people in the back room.

Again, so what?

If it's not Moose, it's Elton John, if it's not Elton John, it's Carrol Oconner.

Whoever it is, the words are going to be the same, but perhaps not as clearly and concisely articulated as you'd like.

What would you have Moose do to improve his image?.......

juggle 5 cats?

Glad to hear the Swiss have repented. Money is an easy way to track someone, as long as the trackers are very diligent. If this thing is a wire, I'd think the perp would be wise to have something set up, in advance, so that if would be automatically forwarded to, as GovShrinker says, a country that wouldn't give us the time of day.

Even then, we'd know where it went, pretty fast. And the perp(s) would need the complete cooperation of that second country. If we knew where it went, we'd know a whole lot more about this (these) person (people) than we do (at least publicly) now.

Mr Moose would do himself proud if he checked the hotel/motel registers for the Fredricksburg area for the night of Oct3/4; the Manassas area for Oct 8/9; the Fredricksburg area for Oct 10/11; and the Ashland/Richmond area for Oct 18/19. Even snipers need a place to sleep, eat, and watch their favorite cable channel newscast of Mr Moose's press releases.

what does the fact that he's not a Rhodes scholar have to do with anything?

Nothing. I was merely pointing out that the guy ain't a genius, and so what, not many are. He's a guy that was crusing through life with a pretty cushy job and all of a sudden he called upon to become the spokesmen in a media frenzy on his door step. I doubt he's running the show and although he has improved, he has not shown great judgement in dealing with the media, IMO. Having said that I would not want to be in his shoes for all the money in the world.

...If the sniper messed up on the numbers (not hard to do, if you aren't a banking operations pro), it could very well be impossible to "comply electronically".

Yes, that thought did cross my mind.

I doubt ransom is the motive. I think we're talking with someone so depraved that he's probably in his own fantasy world.

He's arguably the most powerful man in America right now, even more than George Bush. He certainly has a more intense following.

This ransom idea was probably an afterthought. He's having fun yanking our chains, using a $49 voice-altering device and messing with our minds.

He's not going to give up killing for all the money in the world. It's too much damn fun.

If ransom IS the motive, then the shooter probably wanted to first demonstrate that he could continue to kill people at will, even under intense scrutiny. Ransom probably works better when the threat is demonstrable if not met. If he killed one person, then asked for ransom, the cops would have less reason to believe he could get away with it for long.

Yeah, that thought too also crossed my mind.

If ransom IS the motive,

I don't know. I think it's just "get away cash." According to CNN, the shooters note said "This is about more than violence". That could indicate a "cause."

"What in this case would indicate any large investment of resources?"

Rent for the safe houses and living expenses for the soldiers maybe?

The Swiss did not repent; they succumbed to harsh coercion. Something about the European Union forbidding any of its member countries to engage in financial transactions with Swiss banks if they didn't reform their ways.

I think it probably has been for some time, since the Secret Service and FBI were involved almost immediately. I also think they are leaking tidbits of information to the media only when it advances their agenda. For instance, the reference to this being about more than violence may be a way to let the world know who is behind the killings and to shape world opinion at a very critical time. Of course, if this is just a loose kook, none of this applies.

a country that wouldn't give us the time of day.

Like LurkerX said, there's no guarantee the shootings will stop, so there's no incentive to pay, unless they have some humongous legitimate threat on the table.

This money part blows apart much of my model. It's just so unprofessional, even for a french guy.

Unless it's a communication to Hussein or somebody else somewhere else to pay up.

No, Moose is not competent. It's time for Squirrel to take over the investigation.

Tell Mr. Moose to yell at Mr. Green Jeans and have him contact Tom Terrific.

Before you call someone else "illiterate" maybe you should consult a 5th grade English textbook. Review the sections that describe punctuation and run-on sentences.

Just a suggestion.
