Most likely you won't see a patrolman pass by unless you're on a city street where they are trying to catch speeders. 90% of all law enforcement is about ticketing crime. Generating income for local municipalities, and gathering evidence to prosecute those who committed crimes. It has little to do with actively preventing crimes before they happen.

Hey! I'm thinking out of the box here. No doubt that ten million dollars is chump change considering the cost of having every LEO within 100 miles racking up overtime and millions in "related expenses".

How about the Secret Service provide some nice new 100 dollar bills that aren't made of the paper that reacts to that yellow pen so many businesses use.

When the perp spreads the money around (as some other poster suggested) then they will be caught when trying to pass the money at a store that performs that kind of test on crisp new C-notes.

The store usually has a policy for dealing with paper droppers, and invariably there will be a video image on some store tape.

The downside of this is, that if the store doesn't handle this kind of test, they eat the counterfeit.

And of course there is always the "principle" approach which considers giving them anything anathema.

I believe your suppositions are very credible, and quite frankly, the plausibility and likelihood of your 'ideas' - being the most accurate out there today - makes me wonder if you're working on inside information.

I concur in your assesment of kinghorse, though maybe he just pays attention better than most of us.

The thing is, most things the POTUS says mean something. Especially Dubya. He don't talk just to hear hisself. So, when after 9/11 he said "This country still has a bright future." (not an exact quote) it gave me a chill. It sounded like he knew we would lose a city or three.

And his dad is not only a former POTUS, he's also a former DCI. They both know what's coming.

hello all, just got home. after thinking on this for days , why is this such BIG NEWS ? people get shot every day in this country . i think if the media just ho-humed this whole deal(fat chance). and the sniper got no response he would either quit or escalate the shootings which would make it easier to catch him. as it is he only has to wait for moose or some dumb reporter to give him an idea . or am i justed burned out from work?

BTW, What is scary as heck, is that our communist buddies in China (who were exempt from Kyoto restrictions) have grown quite prosperous from all that money we give them in exchange for cheap plastic trinkets. So prosperous that they are purchasing so many automobiles, that in five years they will be a larger consumer market for automobiles than the united States. Those cars run on oil based fuels. Considering the bellicose behavior of China and how quickly they go after strategic sites (Spratly Islands, Panama Canal, Bahamas), where do you think they may satisfy their future oil needs?
