The Germans had a similar situation with a terrorist named Rudy the Red a few decades ago. His compatriots were always hijacking buses, blowing up train stations, etc. in an attempt to get him and his fellow prisoners out of jail. The attacks stopped when Rudy and his comrades all died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds in prison.
