Heck, it could be a product of American public school.
Haven't seen a map yet but is this area near the Georgia avenue Beltway exist?

"bordering on broken English"
Ebonics? from Inspector Moose-eau? Just kidding. He seems like a really good guy. Ph.D. too!
To: areafiftyone
The timing of the shooting, at 6 AM, suggests that the shooter is becoming more media savvy. He clearly wanted to make sure that his act dominated the morning talks shows that come on at 7 AM.
Liberal media bias footnote: in describing the arrest of the two men in the white van yesterday, The Today Show stated only that they were totally unrelated to the sniper case. They failed to mention that the men were illegal Latin American aliens who would be deported.

Multiple lookouts on all major roads, it seems. Too many to mention. Suffice to say probably every white van is now being called in by citizens... cops are calling them out and responding. Sounds like gridlock. My kid is telling me she has to leave now for school. That means I have to get off here and get dressed. I'm her chauffer. Doesn't sound like I will get anywhere anytime soon, but I have to at least try... Signing off for now...

Maybe he wrote the note in broken English to throw them off. Could be.

What do you think about the repeated proximity to the Gate of Heaven Cemetery? Sounds like a place an AlQaeda or wannabe would fixate on more than just a home grown crazy.

They were just saying on FOX that there's a $500,000 reward offered, and they are not aware that any one has called in.....then they said, they're sure someone's probably called in, but they haven't heard that anything has created any leads.....I find that kind of weird if this is a "lone wacko" operating rather than something organized by a group of foreigners who really don't know anybody here well enough to have gotten "identified" by neighbors.

Yes. But it's several miles north of the Beltway.
To: monocle
None. There isn't even evidence that a written communication exists other than info from 'unnamed' sources in law enforcement who could be planting such stuff. Nothing can be inferred from anything (except from civilian witness acccounts) because all the rest may be simply to keep the press occupied while the work goes on.

Why do you think this is not true? The police would not be talking to this guy unless he wants something. Why wouldn't it be him? But that is just my opinion. You are entitled to yours. :-) But all the news reports say it was a ransom.
GUNMAN: PAY OR I'LL KILL AGAIN He left a three page rambling note and said he will stop shooting when I get the money. That's good enough for me for now until they say otherwise.

The area where this happened is a bedroom community. There are countless possibilities for safe houses around there.

You're right about the timing. It is perfect for publicity. Plus the area is directly between two other shootings (per WTOP radio).

Thanks! Just left the metro area in June to return to the midwest. Glad I did.

Let's hope the military planes weren't suckered into re-locating over Virginia the past couple of days. If the planes are up, maybe they can spot this guy - on foot OR in vehicle.
To: Steve0113
Even a methodical sample of license plates might turn up some kind of pattern.
To: maica
Interesting. Could mean anything or nothing, I guess.
Their pattern appears to be no pattern at all.
To: Lobbyist
But life must be so boring now :-)
To: The Red Zone
Even if on foot, he's getting that gun out. Even if you're walking out, the areas in question are populated enough that you'd think someone would see him. Perhaps safe houses are being used. Anything is worth checking out.
It also troubles me that witnesses didn't get better descriptions of the vehicle or the perp, especially the incident where he was close in last week.

While many can write in broken english, an educated person will more often than not slip up when he/she attempts to do it. Small things like punctuation marks, used properly in a poorly written letter ring all kinds of alarms. I would think if the note was actually three pages long, the writer would err a time or two if he/she were intentionally writing in such a manner.
