Even if money was demanded, it could
be more than domestic criminality. We
have managed to cut back the terrorist
money supply. Terrorists could finance
operations even better now if they can
blackmail for $$$.

In Colombia, the Philippines etc. the
terror groups do blackmail for money,
& Abu Sayef is tied to Bin Laden.

Just a thought...

It is a thought, and not a bad one, but it just doesn't all fit together for me. I know we need to expect the unexpected from AQ, but unless given other evidence to the contrary, I'm leaning toward domestic again.

Yes, remember the missionaries? Ransom/blackmail...
it's a freaking industry with terrorists. I'm not concinced,
but it's worth the thought.

Many of the domestic and European terrorist groups of the 1960s and 70s turned to bank robbery and kidnapping in order to finance their activities, as well as "strike against the system."

If we've disrupted the Al-Qaeda money transfer system, then the terrorist cells might (horror) have to get a day job.
