Perhaps their big problem is with so many people in the DC region and so many people pissed off by now and ready to snap, that if the perp(s) are NOT in custody and they announce the suspects are Alpha Tango (arab taro-ists), then the police would be distracted from their prime duties to apprehend the culprits, in an effort instead to cover/protect all mosques and 7Elevens in the area to prevent a massive prairie fire of a grassroots backlash.
I do believe the LEOs want the perps apprehended ASAP even before they say specifically it was/is AQ or offer a racial profile.
IMHO, that would be a very terrible game of brinksmanship to play on the families of the most recent victims and future victims.

I am going into the other room to watch the press conference. I will comment when it is done. I REALLY need a small TV with satellite hook-up here by the computer (as Howlin has told me many times)!

My dictionary shows it as re-al-tor. Pet peeve gone.

I am speaking of QUARANTINE, as in smallpox or ebola. Get a grip!Suddenly you're speaking of QUARANTINE for Small Pox. Funny, I didn't see it mentioned before. (I've still got a grip. Thanks for your kind concern, however.)
Plus, if there are snipers all over the country, I intend to be a target as few times as possible.
Having the sense not to advertise yourself as a target and being confined to your home are two different things.
You macho guys are too quick to assume that the rest of us are cowering in the corner. Please! I lived through the Cold War, the riots of the 60's, and Jimmy Carter's horrible presidency! I am fairly tough and am not giving in.
This is not an exercise is false machismo as demonstrated by many of the keyboard cowboys around here. However, as truly terrifying as the Carter presidency was, it doesn't qualify as preparation for facing terrorists on our own soil. I simply do not wish to see Americans so readily accepting of being confined to their homes. Glad you're planning for all contingencies though.
What the heck, I accept your apology too.

I might be able to find my way around a cubicle, but not a kitchen--you're a step ahead of me

You hit it right on the head for me too! This year has been bad for business, too much time on FR! But on the brighter side of things, I'm much more informed than most folks.
This one hits home since we live in the area and have small kids. My concern is not for my safety, hope it would be a head shot if I were hit, but I'd be sick if my kids were hit or if my wife were injured. Granted the chances are 1 in 1 Million or more but it's still not comforting, nutjob or not this is terrorism.

Shep on Fox News was talking about something, (didn't catch what it was) but he made the comment, "that may be a bit farther than we want to go." At this point, what the hell more could they possibly say?
Anyone else see this, the whole thing?
To: AmericanInTokyo
Didn't they say earlier that the next press conference would be tomorrow at noon? Does that mean this is another message delivery?
To: AmericanInTokyo
AIT, we can't even call the Saudis our enemy.
We think we're making friends with the arabs while they look at us with contempt and laugh at our wishywashiness.
Fantasy again - Bush comes on and says if perp doesn't turn himself in, we nuke mecca.

Note to women at home (who are glued to FR and news coverage): Just before hubby is due home, splash some cleaner in the sink, drag the vacume out in the middle of the floor and leave cleaner and platex gloves on the counter top.
To: txflake
Now they said in the next half hour.
To: Hatteras
Yup
To: Howlin
Short wave??? *Perk*Yup! Oh, what I wouldn't give for a good log-periodic HF beam...
Another thread idea: You May Be An Info Junkie If... your rooftop has more antennae than the local airport... If you have Fox News on every TV in the house, and pipe it into the bathrooms... If you get satellite Internet access for Free Republic only... If you have your lab computer's home page set to Free Republic...
To: swarthyguy
Good idea.
But they would palpitate and have to be carried out of stretchers over at the State Department!!

My in-laws also vote "the man, not the party" too, but they've lived in California (local talk radio guy calls it the granola bowl) for years and are not very independent thinkers.
They are suffering form Stockhom Syndrome too. They were kidnapped by Gray Davis.:)
Thankfully, your folks were smarter.
To: aristeides
Sorry about the typo. That should of course be "Gary Bald," not "Gay Bald".LOL! I am NOT going to touch this one.
To: aeronca
"...and
platex gloves on the counter top."
Would that be the Cross-Your-Heart platex gloves? :-)
To: Chemist_Geek
"Yup! Oh, what I wouldn't give for a good log-periodic HF beam..."CG, you're talking my language!

Now they said in the next half hour.Post 5P, and I can listen in the car. WSB & WGST have started taking some if not all of these live. WSB has Cox's Jaime Dupree there, while WGST sent Wendi Grossman up (I don't know her, she started after I left there).

While waiting for press conference, Oprah is having another Iraq show - whether to go to war or not.
