I thought the same thing but, I'm guessing that the sniper left a phone number that he was going to call and wanted Moose to be there. If Moose called the number, its doubtful that the sniper would be hanging out ther waiting for the phone to ring.

Just a guess......

Oh sure! They screw it up, raid a phone booth, cuff and run off with the guy, and now they're telling the shooter to call again?
What, wrong phone booth? "We need to catch you at the right phone booth. Please call us again so we can do it right this time."
Geeeez. I'm sure they guy can't wait to call again!

His anguish does not make me at all secure, in fact her has added to the bizzaro nature of what in my opinion is Mideast Terrorism. Our 24 hr news networks are major mental masturbators.

"We didn't understand you. You said the nuke is hidden where!?"

LOL....Yeah maybe then we would start getting the picture, we are at war.

The "judge" on Fox said it might be a coded message -- now what groups is particularly fond of coded messages?

I get the feeling there might be more than potential shootings on the table...

Most likely the number given to the police was a voice mail-type number, where people would drop voicemails back and forth to each other. The person probably left a phone number and the password number to access it. Also why the original message - "you left a number, call us there" - probably sounded so goofy but Moose wasn't misquoted...

All appears to be Mass Confusion or, perhaps, "Moose Confusion".

Makes me wonder if the whole phone booth thing was a setup, to see if the police would play 'honest'. Remember in the movie Die Hard 2, when the terrorists crashed a plane because the guys in the airport control center weren't playing by their rules?

I'm not saying I believe that life imitates the movies, but some people might get their ideas FROM movies.

I wish everyone would get off of Moose's back. It shows no respect or class. If he messes this thing up, we can go after him later.

As I said on another thread:

I'm kind of pissed at Rush right now for his "Bullwinkle J. Moose" comments and at those on FR who ridicule him: The guy has a job to do and I think that we should back off and let him do it without name-calling.

There is no difference between making jokes about 1) Moose for not catching the sniper yet and 2) Bush for not catching Bin Laden.

Mr. Moose needs to be given the benefit of the doubt. They know much more than we do and THEY CAN'T TELL US EVERYTHING THEY KNOW.

"His anguish does not make me at all secure"

That and the lack of information we are getting to at least be able to try and put this into some kind of context for us as to what is going on.

I did note that one of the reporters tried to make the point that sure Cheif Moose’s job is to investigate crime, but that it is also to let the public know if they are safe or not, seems that Moose did not grasp that point.

For me it just underlines the point that our government is incapable of protecting us.

Moose took pains to ask the media to report his message clearly and accurately as often as possible. Of course they're not.

I haven't seen anyone mention it here and I haven't made it to the end of the longer thread, but the guy who spoke after Moose at the press conference said the media reports about the bullet found in the rental truck Friday night were WRONG when they reported the caliber and that it was in fact a .223, but they have ruled it out as being connected to the sniper.

i'm not ON his back and I'm not blaming Moose for anything. He's the spokesman for the effort (the guy in front for the whole investigation) so he gets the credit when the case is solved and the occasional mild barb (usually based on his last name) when its not. Calm down.
