I wish everyone would get off of Moose's back. It shows no respect or class. If he messes this thing up, we can go after him later.
As I said on another thread:
I'm kind of pissed at Rush right now for his "Bullwinkle J. Moose" comments and at those on FR who ridicule him: The guy has a job to do and I think that we should back off and let him do it without name-calling.
There is no difference between making jokes about 1) Moose for not catching the sniper yet and 2) Bush for not catching Bin Laden.
Mr. Moose needs to be given the benefit of the doubt. They know much more than we do and THEY CAN'T TELL US EVERYTHING THEY KNOW.

i'm not ON his back and I'm not blaming Moose for anything. He's the spokesman for the effort (the guy in front for the whole investigation) so he gets the credit when the case is solved and the occasional mild barb (usually based on his last name) when its not. Calm down.

I wasn't denigrating the man. I just saw 'Call back...message unclear' and thought of the Magic 8-ball response that is very similar. I would have made the same joke whether it were President Bush or Clinton. Maybe you weren't referring to me in any case, but I understand that the guy is under an enormous amount of pressure. That said, nobody ASKED him to become Chief. If he isn't up to it, he should expect reasonable criticism. But again, that's not what you were referring to.

Must admit that I agree with you.

Thank you for your statement on this thread re: I wish everyone would get off Moose's back. I agree with you. It's amazing to me how some on this site will resort to name calling, ridiculing,...etc...as soon as they don't agree with the action/actions of someone else...it's one reason I don't post much here anymore...lots of armchair quarterbacking with no logic...it would be interesting to see what these same people would do if they were in the Chief's shoes...

There is no difference between making jokes about 1) Moose for not catching the sniper yet and 2) Bush for not catching Bin Laden. If you can't tell the difference, what is anyone going to be able to tell you? OBL is probably a greasy smear and a pile of charred bones. Bush, Rumsfeld, and Rice enunciated a clear and compelling case all along the way. They know what is at stake, and what must still be done.
Chief Moose is just about as far from that as you can get: a highly credentialed fool with a resume stuffed with PC bueaucrat positions. Is there any wonder he sounds like he is in waaaay over his head? He has poisoned the reliability of witnesses with half-baked "information" and gotten his chain yanked by wannabes and poseurs. Imagine Madeline Albright and Jimmy carter running the War on Terror and you get the picture.

I also am sick of some of the jokes being made about this man. There is no way he deserves this kind of treatment. He is not in control of this investigation, he is a participant. It has gone way beyond him. What is it now, at least 5 jurisdictions and Federal, State, and local authorities involved. Maybe he isn't the most articulate spokesman, but I think the cheap shots are pretty low.

I actually kind of like Mr. Moose myself.

I heartily agree with you. Some of the idle comments from the armchair quarterbacks are completely uncalled for and completely unfair.
