Enduring Freedom: The Opening Chapter Pulled from Theaters

A four minute 48 second documentary about the United State's response to the 911 attacks, titled "Enduring Freedom: The Opening Chapter," has been pulled from the screens by the nation's largest theater chain, Regal Entertainment Group.

It was pulled the same day the Los Angeles Times ran a story on the film that included accusations the "images are proving disturbing to some."

The Time's story ran on Tuesday and the short feature that played before features was pulled the same day. The Time's ran a follow up story on Friday citing "inappropriate political commentary," indicating another reason the film may have been pulled.

The Friday article quoted a Regal representative as saying the film had "run its course" as the reason for it being pulled, not any political considerations or response to complaints. Regal was said to have used the film to test out its' new system of downloading digital short movies or commercials from satellite feed to show at theaters and the test had been completed.

The Tuesday article quoted a mother who complained about the images of the Twin Towers "crashing down" preceeding the G-rated "Jonah: A Veggie Tales Movie" and on Friday quoted a Philadelphia man who saw the film on-line, not at the theater, who sent an "outraged" e-mail to Regal and stated the film was inappropriate to show because he was against military action in Iraq, despite the film making no mention of Iraq.

"The Bush administration is gearing toward a war I firmly disagree with," quoted the Times, "therefore I do view it as propaganda…"

The Times, in neither Tuesday's nor Friday's article cited any other opinions by viewers except these negative ones. The theater chain stated had they received far more positive comments than negative ones.

"Enduring Freedom: The Opening Chapter" was produced by Rogue Film of Santa Monica who trained servicemen from the Marines and Navy to film operations in Afghanistan, and also activities at 29 Palms, Yuma, Arizona, Norfolk Virginia and off Hawaii.

Raytheon designed infrared lenses for use in documenting US soldiers in Khandahar Afghanistan at night.

Rogue Film owner Lance O'Conner was "furious" over the film being pulled from screens, according to the Friday report. Five percent of the population who complained were "ruining it for everyone," stated O'Conner.

Regal says they may show the film again in January.

This is outrageous to me. You can click this link to read the second LA Times article reprinted in the Knoxville News.

I would guess that the film was banned not because of the small number of complaints by leftists but by serious behind the scenes pressure

from Hollywood industry types. It is not a conicidence that it was banned the day of the LA Times first article.

Hollywood industry can put a lot of pressure on a theater chain. They are very dependent on them.

People with ping lists please ping others on this.

When are Americans going to stand up to American hating socialist who would love to see America, and themselves, destroyed. Its this kind of gutlessness thats going to get a lot more Americans killed, if we continue to listen to these whiny cowards.

One of these days, these whiny cowards will find that their time on the American scene has passed. I only wish it was now.

Let's just be ostriches.

Can a ostrich sing kumbaya with his head stuck in the sand.

And would anybody hear.

After all, the world loves us and just wants to drink pepsi with us. Oh, wait that's coke. Shoot.

I just want the world to sing in perfect harmony.

Burp. For Idiots.

Yeah, but it's really hard to understand what they are saying when their mouths are full of dirt.

What are the chances of this vile POS giving his "outraged" opinion face-to-face to a Marine?

In my opinion, this is a variant on the 'Big Lie' technique of Gobbels, Stalin etc. In this case, bland-down the horror of the WTC/Pentagon/Pennsylvania attacks. Don't show the impacts, the leapers, the wounded and dazed because these sights are too raw and emotional. In the opinion of the LA Times and the people it quotes, this might give rein to Bush and that VRWC to stike at those who harbor bombers, poisoners and assorted maniacs. No propoganda but our good leftist propoganda!

What's ludicrous is he simply doesn't want it shown because it may influnce people in a way he doesn't like.

Liberal censorship plain and simple.

This is and should be a big story.

Leftists are banning films. Now. Today. 2002.

"... quoted a Philadelphia man who saw the film on-line, not at the theater, who sent an "outraged" e-mail to Regal and stated the film was inappropriate to show because he was against military action in Iraq, despite the film making no mention of Iraq. "

I think he means, "Please don't ruin my view of reality with any real world facts or news footage. That might make me FEEL uncomfortable."

Just as a matter of interest, it seems that the referenced film is available on-line on line.

Yes.

And all well and good if he wants to hide himself from it but he and his powefrull like-minded people have succeeded in getting the film pulled from the largest movie theater chain in the nation.

This really is a battle that the leftists are bringing to us.

They do not want the military to be portrayed in a real light nor want people to understand what this war is about and what is happening.

They do not want people to see it and are actively trying to squelch it.

Thanks for the link.

The guy who complained didn't even see it in a theater, he saw it on-line.

As a matter of fact, yes. That's exactly what those America-hating Communists (commonly known as pacifists living in the US) want us to do. Forget about it.

Until the fire next time.

So, the next time you see someone behaving like this, telling people "We should not go into Iraq" and "We should put 9-11-01 behind us", you should say:

GO TO HELL.

9/11 never happened! It was as fake as the moon landings! David Copperfield has hid the WTC towers!

Geez, these morons never cease to amaze me. We should all be seeing the 9/11 attacks every night as part of the introduction of the network news.

Just watched it. Very uplifting and inspiring, although it's obviously a Recruiting film for the Navy and Marine Corp.
