Large-Scale Theft in US Navy

As news agencies report, the US Pacific Fleet command didn’t want to publish the results of the auditing. It is clear that the Navy admirals didn’t want to look idiots in the eyes of the public, as the auditing wasn’t conducted of the whole of the US armed forces or the Navy, but only of the Pacific Fleet. However, one question arises: what if computers with classified information disappear not only in the US Pacific Fleet, but in the whole of the US military as well? If this is so, it is going to develop into an even bigger scandal.

I've learned through "unofficial" channels that the USN threw away a couple thousand almost brand new computers about a year ago. Might have they mismatched the numbers?

I also heard a rumor that they misplaced a destroyer once?

Laptops are fairly easy to conceal, but I was wondering exactly who on the boat wouldn’t ask some serious questions to the sailor carting a computer, monitor, keyboard and mouse off of a nuclear submarine while on leave. There could be some politics involved with this theft; our fighting men and women in the US Military are trying to pick up the pieces of wallowing in the Clinton-era military policies of 'don’t ask - don’t tell.'”

I don't know about us, but the Canadians once left a missile launcher and classified SATCOM gear on a couple of ships they were selling for scrap. Can you say, "OOPS"?

the kicker was, the ships were sold "as is" and they had a heck of a time getting permission to go on board - the owner wanted compensation for whatever stuff they took off the ships.
