I believe that this is exactly what all of us now need to be mentally and spiritually prepared for. In an age when words like "anthrax" and "smallpox" are bandied around every day, it should be clear that nobody knows what tomorrow will bring, not that they ever did, but today less than ever.

You may be able to hide within your bolt hole from a sniper, but certain forms of terror afford no refuge.

Is the objective here, simply to preserve our own skin, or are there higher principles at stake?

Better to die on your feet than live on your knees.

These were his last words

I hate sad endings. How about this? Crusher gets shot and a mom who kept her kids out of school today is a witness. She tells the kids to get down and tosses them a cell phone and follows the sniper. Kids call 911 and sniper apprehended and kills himself. Crusher gets a "brave man here" on his headstone. Mom and kids honored for bravery too and get 500000 dollars. Everyone happy.

A one in ten million chance. You take a much greater chance every time you drive. Do you drive at all? Better not even take a bus, or a train, or gee-willikers a plane -- all much worse odds. Don't bathe either, btw -- too much a risk of drowning.
