Just a theory here based on the scenario in post 257: Moose was in the process of working on a response to the sniper when this situation came up. Not knowing yet if the people in the van apprehended this morning are involved in the sniper case, Moose went ahead and got his message out, quickly, to let the real sniper know that he is still working on whatever it is that the sniper believes that he is working on, despite the apprehension of this morning's white van.

Moose's job isn't to keep the public informed of his every step and of every piece of info as soon as it comes in...what he does owe the public is to bring this suspect(s) into custody.

He should use the media through whatever means he needs to accomplish what really matters and that is putting a stop to these horrible crimes against innocent victims.

Nice catch. I always imagined the shooter taking his shots from the rear of the van and out of the front passenger or rivers window.

The pop-out windows would also provide nice cover.

My only contrary thought about both of these theories is that if he didn't have the barrel all the way out of the van, the flash from the shot would briefly light up the inside of the van like a flashbulb. This would have to get someone's attention.

Sniper laughs

I hope to goodness you're not right, but you could be. This sniper all along has wanted to make a fool of police. What better way to continue his/her work than to pull off something like this?

The NRA and/or Bush/Cheney and/or USMC bumper stickers (depending upon the report) raises a red flag too. I wouldn't put it past the DNC to hire someone b/c they have such stickers to do this right before an election where they could lose both houses. Think WJC, Terry McAuliffe, NJ Dems, and nothing would seem impossible.

LOL Hi MO. I don't know what is going on. Local people reporting a French connection. (sorry, couldn't stop myself) Saying one of their sharp shooters has gone missing. Groan. Not sure what that means, but there it is. Wings said, weeks ago, the military keeps real good tabs on it's sniper quality folks. He never thought it was one of our military guys. I just want it over. I do so hope it is, but I can tell nothing from CNN. CNN is saying they know nothing, waiting for LEO's to let us all know what is going on.
