The phone number wasn't for the police to call him, it was a third party number (probably a pay phone) that the shooter knows would be "confiscated" by the police. This was so that the shooter could call that number and the police would know without a shadow of doubt that it is the shooter.

Now we just have to wait to see what the shooter wants to talk about.

perhaps he didn't know the cops would take the number. Perhaps he thought they would need to go to that location to answer the phone and he could play out the scenerio of the movie which the media has talked about wherein a sniper holds a cop hostage in a phonebooth.

I see him, waiting with the booth in sight for the cop to arrive and when that doesn't happen, he doesn't call.

Agree - it is the only scenario that makes sense - even in Moose-speak. Can't wait til that phone rings this morning and the orbiting J-STAR locks onto the origin with its Forward Looking Infrared. Launch the Tomahawks and cripy-fry this POS.

This could also be a Pre paid cell phone, left at the scene. You do not necessarily have to give out any personal information when purchasing one.

This Serial Psycho apparently loves taunting cops. He alot like other serial killers in that way. I am now leaning back towards my original gut feeling that this is some home grown psychopath who is enjoying himself immensely.
