For each of you who wrote to the Canteen this week, just know that we are praying for your victory and for your safe return. Keep stopping by the Canteen, and give us Canteeners even MORE reason to hang out here every day. Every one of us here has chosen the Canteen as our online home for a very good reason: YOU.
Dear Johnny,
I'm so very sorry about the lost of your dad 9/12/01. Losing a parent is never easy. I will say a prayer for you and your family. Thank you for taking the time to write, we love hearing from you.
Sincerely,

Hi Charney,
Writing to the troops is one of the things I can do. Thank you for being there on the front keeping us safe. We love hearing from you.
~~~~~Joel USNAVY
Hi Joel,
The chicken dance is really funny. I used to work with a young man that did that dance every afternoon. Cracked the entire office up. Stay safe and thank you for writing. Sorry I don't have a chicken! LOL
MAIL CALL
There's a scramble in the barracks
When our mail call time arrives,
And we hit the stair at double-time,
And our interest has revived.
I love this poem, thank you for posting it. Looking forward to your next posting.
Thank you guys and gals for all you do to keep us safe. ~~~~Bless you all and stay safe.~~~~~
Dear Johnny, (USAF)
I am sorry for the loss of your father. He must have been a great man for you and your brothers to follow in his footsteps in serving our country. You must have been so proud of him and in turn, he was very proud to have a family such as you and your brothers. I am glad you found the USO Canteen and shared about your family. This is a place where people will truly care and appreciate your father's service in Vietnam. This is a place where people will encourage you and your brothers in your service to America during Operation Enduring Freedom....and beyond that! I, personally, am grateful every day for what our Armed Forces do! God Bless You!
Dear James K.L. (Navy Hospital Corpsman 1st Class)
Glad you made it back and we understand how busy you all get. You know we'll be here so just mosey on over when you get a chance. It's never a dull place...in fact, it's often been quoted these days as "Awesome is the norm at Canteen". Of course, there are lots of talented people in Canteen and like you, have to tune in to see what they have thought up next. You troops have the best seats in the house since you are the guests-of-honor. Much like a Gallagher show only you don't have to wear raincoats. Anyway, thank you for all of your hard work and dedication you put forth for all of us. You are awesome! God Bless You!!!
DearCharney (USArmy)
When you fed your face on Junk Food Day, did you get really weird dreams? Sometimes that happens you know! Did you dream about taking a tour in Station 51 or seeing a guy in a burka bouncing upside down? Sometimes Junk Food days will make you see bats or mice (but not ORDINARY bats or mice)....or maybe you heard songs vividly?....hmmm, any out of the body experiences where you might be dancing like a chicken or visiting Badlands? Tell ze doktor vat you experienced!!! Vatever it eez, My prescription eez regular doses of USO Canteen. Okay, on a SILLIER note, thanks for coming to USO Canteen...may it always be a hoot! Most of all, visit and let us thank you as much as possible in the craziest ways we know how. God Bless You!!!
Dear Joel (US NAVY) Hey there, Joel! Glad you liked the Chicken Dance. I heard a rumor that Tomkow laid an egg soon after he danced...can anyone substantiate this rumor? I figure any egg that might come in contact to Tom's burka could be used for a delicacy Tee Hee! Oh, how I pick on Tomkow! Anyway, Joel, it's great you enjoy yourself so much at the cottage. May it always be a respite when you drop in. By the way, You ROCK too! Our military is The Creme de le Creme. I like your term "CAN tastic". I can't think of anything good to have with CAN....except Cantankerous (nope, won't work), or Cantilever (nope, that's not it either).....it's late so I guess I'll have to work on that. Take care! God Bless YOU! And thanks!
Dear Michael (US Army)
All I can say about those girls who won't give you a chance is: THEIR LOSS!! You'll find a girl with SUBSTANCE. In the meantime, hang out in the Canteen and watch the tanks roll by....it's hard to worry about things when you are enjoying the Canteen. Those Z-Tar guys are true friends to lead you here!! Hope you'll come back as regularly as permitted by schedules. It's a veritable buffet of nuts and berries.... ha ha! (Yup the girlz are the berries and the Bad Boyz are....) Thanks and God Bless You!!!
Dear Mark,(USMC)
Congratulations for getting all the trivia questions correct!! I am better at spelling bees....maybe we should do THOSE instead!! Ha ha! I don't know how easy these questions were for you, but I would like to think that USO Canteen offers experiences that delights and stimulates ALL areas of the brain....."oh, are you a brain surgeon?" "No, but I once visited the USO Canteen!" If you ever smell smoke...it will probably be me trying to answer these trivia questions. Congratulations, again! Thank you for your service to our country! God Bless You!
Dear Al,Marty, Joe and Scully the scrounger (USNAVY),
I truly loved the poem and will print it out and share it with many friends. In return for the gift, I will fiddle a few sea shanties for my favorite pirates! So have a cup o' grog and sit a spell awhile!! We are all here to make sure you all "treasured", me hearties!! Buccaneer Buppy (not Blackbeard Buppy). God Bless You!
