The word "he" in Daniel 9:27 is a reference back to the Prince of Daniel 9:26--". . . and the people of the prince to come will destroy the city and the sanctuary . . . . "

The word translated "people" in 9:26 is the Hebrew word "yam" which has a dictionary meaning--denotation, "tribal or ethnic group" so 9:26 properly translated means the "tribal or ethnic group of the prince to come will destroy the city . . . "

Destruction of the city occured in 70 AD when an army under Titus destroyed Jerusalem and the Temple. However the army was made up almost exclusively of troups levied on the local kings--Pontius, Syria, etc.; modern Turkey, Syria. This is confirmed by Tacitus, Josephius, and now by Roman army discharge records. The coming prince of Daniel 9:26-27 is a middle eastern ethnic.

The anti-Christ is not described as having a mark on his head--he is specifically described in Revelation 13 has having had a head "wound unto death" and survivied. Gorby's birthmark has nothing to do with the issue.

The Bible describes an invasion of Israel by Gog in two places: Ezekiel 38 and Revelation 20:9. The invasion in Revelation 20:9 is identified as to time--over one thousand years hence and not an issue today. Is there a second invasion described in Ezekiel 38 or is Ezekiel simply a second description of the invasion at the end of the 29th century? Careful reading of the literal words suggests the latter--probably no invasion of Israel by Russian in our time frame, Hal Lindsay and Dwight Pentacost to the contrary notwithstanding.

Another scenario:

Naw, the harlot isn't America simply because the rest of the world is militarily impotent compared to us.

Besides, the great city is destroyed in an hour and all the seamen and merchants of the world weap...which sounds more like how a soft, pampered generation would behave if Television were to be turned off forever (and TV certainly made the merchants of the world rich).
