Draw the cops farther and farther from DC. Even get the Secret Service to help in the hunt, then, pow, the White House or Congress.

It could be a SH/BL plan! Do unto Bush, before he does unto you.

You can read it at home. Hint: that will be useful in the rest of your life -- education should not stop at graduation.

Indeed, 99.9999% of what most people learn in their lifetime will be on their own, outside of school. Schools and teachers are highly overrated.

I can tell you've never been shot at, or not very much. Many calibers can sound ZING when they go by, others CRACK, and so on. A big factor is how far they've traveled before they get to where you're at.

My point was that the .223 bullet in question will make a much different sound than "zing" until after it has slowed to below the speed of sound. At that point, you'll be beyond the effective range of the rifle -- the bullet will still be lethal, but unstable.

Well said. It is disgusting to be strung along like this with the white van and casing found there. We were told no information would be available until Monday. Groan. Now we know it is not the same type bullet. Not admitting last nights victim was from the same shooter, leads to more dismay as we have to entertain the possibility there might be a copycat, or more sniper teams. BIG mistake on the part of LEO's IMHO.

" think the Moose haters are really people who dislike blacks in power...quite simply racists who claim the victim of their racism is STUPID or DUMB and DESERVES the distain

Two can play that game...I think you believe that all the people who are criticizing Moose are racists...because you don't see black people as equals and must be given "special treatment".

Listen....if Moose was a fat white southern drawlin sheriff, you can bet we'd be raggin' on him 'bout his yups and sure nuffs. Moose happens to be a guy who had some issues at his last job in Oregon, and was summarily moved laterally to another equal position in Maryland. Okay, his ebonics don't help matters...but even making fun of that is NOT racist....mean maybe...but NOT racist.

Most scopes are mounted a couple inches higher than the muzzle

Mine wasn't. But, as I pointed out, it could have been the ammo. It was 'hot', and aerodynamics can get strange.

If you can find someone who has more experience, educational bona fides, or documented success at teaching English, you should get them to teach your children. But I doubt you'll find someone who meets those criteria.

So why are homeschool moms making public schools look like playgrounds for the braindead?

There's nothing as exhilarating as bullets aimed at you that you escape.

My sixth grader is reading Tolkien's translation of Sir Gawain. A high school honors English class should be comfortable with Beowulf, Caterbury Tales, and Sir Gawain in the original dialect, and they ought to be (but generally aren't these days) getting to know some Latin as well. Modern standards for schools suck, vide Dr. Moose (yeah, he's got a Ph.D.).

After listening for many hours to the media reports and reading lots of theories on these threads, I have come to the conclusion that anything is possible here.

Public schools are expendable. Private schools and homschools are educating the children, where failing public schools are letting the poor kids down. It's a waste of tax money.

Random? Typical? Verdict is still out on these.

I happen to think that some of the killings are not so random at all. But, as I said, the verdict is not in on this yet.

After the tarot card, I too wondered about Bush being a target. Goes back to the 'all will die' child/father/mother/priest/king so far no priest yet. So, maybe the info on the tarot isn't what we need to pay attention to. The death card is the 13th. Will the shooter stop at 13?

The shooting at the catholic university last week, made we wonder if there was an attempt at a priest. Guess we'll never know.

So far, there is too little evidence to say for a certainty that this is ME terrorists. But, go ahead and wear your tinfoil, if you feel a need. That is your right. Just don't expect everyone to be as paranoid as you. Some of us prefer to wait for more facts.

You misread my post. I am TEACHING that tomorrow (or I would have been).

I read it myself (the first of many times) a long time ago. Granted, it's a bit late for my particular area of interest (I did my grad work in Anglo-Saxon and Old Icelandic literature), but I still am conversant enough to have taught it in college.

Of course, there are some on this board who would prefer to be taught literature by their moms. In many cases, I would wager that a concerned parent would give a better education than some of the intellectual slums that pass for schools in America. But, their mom probably doesn't read Beowulf in the original Old English, either...

It didn't phase him one bit that the victims have already crossed all gender, race, age and ethnic lines.

'Figures...

The odds of hitting an FBI intelligence analyst involved in the sniper investigation have got to be impossibly small. I refuse to believe that is a coincidence.
