Oscar has Passed Away
today | me

Posted on 10/20/2002 11:30:07 AM PDT by Moleman

I apologize for the vanity- I am heartbroken today as my best friend and faithful companion has died. My tuff little Yorkie, Oscar, was killed last night by a coyote. The damn coyote snatched him right off of his rope in the backyard. Seems like the environmental nazi's want to keep all these killers alive so they can kill more domestic pets. He was my best friend in the whole world- his nickname was "Moleman"

Sorry to hear of your dog's passing. I was only pinging Coyote to the thread in a light hearted way. Maybe some people would rather not have light-heartedness. That's another loss.

Sorry to hear about that, dude...

My ol dog kicked it about three years ago... I had and have lots of regrets about being away academizing whilst he rotted away on my folks' rusty chain run, didn't get enough time with him... I ain't the cryin' type but somethin' was sure good and stuck in my durn eyes driving down there when I heard he'd died...

I weep with you. Once you give your heart to a "Yorkie" life is never the same. I am so sorry that Oscar was killed in such sad way. We have lost both of our little Yorkies this summer and I think that we may never make it through. Sassy was such a little lady, she died in May and our little Robbie died on his 8th birthday in September. My heart goes out to you.

Sooo.....why didn't someone hit 'abuse' and have it removed if it's so offensive?

I know. I meant someone else should have. I wasn't meaning to make light of the loss of moleman's pet. I was making light of Coyote's screen name. Bad timing on my part.

My deepest heartfelt condolences on the loss of your beloved pet. He is in heaven. The Great Master in the Sky is taking care of him, he is receiving boundless love, special treats, and is playing in the garden with the rest of the pets in Heaven. When the time comes for you to leave this earthly sojourn, you will be reunited with your pet forever; it will be a reunion of hugs, tears and joy and plenty of face licking from your beloved pet. I understand your pain; our family Bichon Frise, Buddy, passed away 2 weeks ago. There are a few pet mourning sites on the internet to get some advice.

It's a dog, and I am not trying to be that hard about it, but you can't blame an animal for chasing it's normal food.

If you didn't know, you have nothing to feel guilt over and I am sure the dog wouldn't hold it against you either.

I would get another one in a short period and make it a bigger dog that is the size of a pointer or larger, because coyotees hunt in packs of usually 5-8. Unless you have a big dog, no dog should be left outside again.

You can get another runt, just can't let him or her out without you. Means you have to train them to go in one place in the house on a piddle pad or something.

Yorkies with papers go for usually $1300 with papers, but you can get lucky and find one here and there for less. Maybe 500-800 dollars.

Don't wait to long, that isn't needed. No dog person should be without a dog more than 2-4 months IMO.

I have had pets. I love pets and animals. What I don't like, and what is so bizarre about the post to which I responded, is that so many people treat pets as if they are humans. The death of a pet, however "tragic," is not the same as the death of a human. To even describe a pet as a "loved one" means that you're the one with the reality problems.

Signed,
Your Favorite Lout

You are right. Sorry I implied that you were a wiener. By yorkie standards Oscar was a preety big dude, abuot 15lbs. Many friends and folks on this thread have suggested we get another dog soon.

At 15 pounds, I think Oscar was 8 pounds over the recognized AKA standards for the size of a Yorkie.

I would consider you get a golden lab (big lovers) or get another small dog, but just never leave it outside without you.

Don't wait, dog people don't do well without dogs.

someone poisoned my two dogs. They both died.

Same thing happened to me when I lived in California. I was told that burglars sometimes do it when they are getting ready to rob your home.

The death of a pet, however "tragic," is not the same as the death of a human.

What you are missing here is that what you said is your opinion, that doesn't make it true for everyone. Rather than post your opinion on someone's vanity thread expressing their pain, you might wait until a discussion comes up about this issue if you have such a strong desire to share your opinion your opinion on this. There is a time and a place for everything, try common decency.

And guess what, my reality is dogs are more innocent than humans, thus easier to love which is why dog lovers have such a hard time with their death, IMHO, it only means you have never had the opportunity to love an animal, too bad.
