Just out of curiosity, does Alaska have the same charming custom of revoking driver licenses for failure to pay child support that other states (like California, for example) have?
Torching one's own car might be a pretty to-the-point way of expressing displeasure with this particular policy...

States are quite uniform in the unconstitutional things they do in relation to child support. That's because the whole system is now driven by federal funding. When you read an article about local officials coming up with an idea on their own initiative -- they're lying.

It is federally mandated.
As part of the firearms act passed in 1998, under Clintoon (when they banned certain "assault" rifles and limited magazines to 10 rounds) they also slid through legislation that requires every state to comply with federal support enforcemnet guidelines - or lose federal highway funds. Bottom line is: if you don't pay your court-ordered child support, they'll get you, no matter where you try to hide.

The guy sounds like a kook, and it's disappointing yet typical that the Freepers support it. Just like they supported those nuts up in Washington or some place who starved and beat their kids and pull guns on CPS because they seem like conservatives. Scary bunch of people here.

If things keep going the way they are, you could get your driver's license back by renouncing America, becoming a Mexican citizen, and sneaking back across the border.
