This guy(s) has got every cop, local state and federal chasing his/her tails, harassing every white van driver and causing neighbors to turn in neighbors and he is loving it.
This guy(s) is playing the police for what they are thoroughbred fools and is enjoying every minute of it.
The media has made a circus of the event, the police are the star attraction and the sniper is the ringleader.
IMO this guy(s) are non-domestic terrorist they started out just looking to kill as many folks as possible, they had no way of knowing it would turn out this way and had no idea the cops would react the way they did.
I think these guy(s) believed their reign of terror would last a day or two at most, not half a month that they would either be caught or killed by the cops.
The white van(s) are just a myth, something someone saw at the very first crime scene due to there shear number around the metro area and now because of the sheeple mentality and media fed frenzy every looks for white vans upon hearing shots. The cops perpetuated this when they themselves keyed in on it and in some circles placed all their eggs in this basket.
The tarot card was just to give the cops something to chew on, nothing more nothing less and I believe the single brass casing was also left intentionally.
We are dealing with an organized group, minimum of two people.
They are not in a white van for obvious reasons.
They are not crazy.
They are trained, maybe not as super snipers but obviously they have the ability to slip past the cops and their massive dragnets
how many times now?
These guys are not going to magically go away as some of these idiot talking head psychobabble types on CNN keep saying, they keep profiling, they keep comparing this to known serial killers but in the same breath say this one is unique. As long as this train long though is prevalent they will never catch anyone.
Just look to the anthrax investigations, FBI 1000000000000% positive its domestic, have they caught anyone yet? Got any leads yet? Or you just gonna search Hatfields apartment again?

Oops, looks like he left a written note, not a recorded message.
Well, did the note have an accent?

Other posters mentioned he looked scared. One poster thought the caller might have left them a cell phone and Moose asked him to call. Sounds like a good explanation.
Repost (Sorry...):
Maybe they think it's a team and are trying to make it look like one of them is ready to talk. If it's a team of 2 (or more), and they're not muslim terrorists, it seems obvious to me that at least one of them had in mind to eliminate the other(s) eventually.
Maybe one of them is scared and is trying to get police protection. Or maybe Moose wants them to think that's the case.

"Oops, looks like he left a written note, not a recorded message." I don't think it's been made clear that it was a written note. There is a public information officer from Montgomery County on FNC channel, who is getting literally pounded by reporters for more info, and she just keeps reading THE EXACT SAME WORDS that Chief Moose read:
"To the person who left us a message last night, at the Ponderosa, you left us a phone number. We want to talk to you, call us at the number you provided"

Very possible. Osama didn't expect the WTC to fall down, either.

Somebody suggested that the snipers had, as a threat, mentioned a very secret phone number (i.e., "I know your number and it's XXX-XXXX") and that they are being asked to call this number.

Jim, does it sound to you like this guy has an internal phone number of someone within the investigation. One that
the general public would not know??

My thoughts on the Press Release
The sniper has left a number, probably a pay phone number that is located somewhere. The police now have taken over that number and the are asking the sniper to call them at that number. The cops do not have to hang around at the pay phone they can disconnect the phone number at the pay phone and assign it to a phone at the police station etc... Even though this does not make sense and why would he not call the 1-888 number? Maybe he thinks the cops will actually hang around the pay phone that had the number assigned to it.
OR MAYBE...
The sniper left a note and asked them to put a certain phone number into service (maybe a phone number the sniper will easily remember or the phone number spells something out). The cops have now put the number into service and it is working as a direct link to maybe Chief Moose. They are letting the sniper know that his request has been done and it is completed. Now they want the sniper to call the number they set up for him.

I think it's probably a number of SOMEONE....the sniper leaving a message by leaving that number.

OR!!!!
This is yet just another nut job, like the false witness who was triggered by what the false witness did and was just waiting for the next shooting to take place and had already though out what he/she was going to do?
Since were speculating
and the world seems to have gone mad anyhow.

What if the shooter dropped something accidentally--say a business card or a family member's phone number, etc.? Moose and his people may already have the business place or home manned.....
To: The Magical Mischief Tour
agreed as to your possibility.
the 'message you left' would more likely have been on the ponderosa answering machine,
assuming the shooter didn't want to provide a handwriting sample ...
