Ashland Shooting: Sunday Updates
Various ^ | 10-20-02 | GRRRRR

Posted on 10/20/2002 4:13:26 AM PDT by GRRRRR

The other thread is running over 2800 posts...so here's a new place to post for Sunday.

Per FOXNews, a 10am EASTERN news conference is planned. Two travelers pulled off I-95 for dinner at a Ponderosa Steak House. The Man, 37, was shot in the gut while his wife stood next to him.

Bullet has NOT been removed from the man while, after surgery, he remains in Critical but GUARDED condition, however, x-rays are expected to provide some dimensional analysis of the slug. Further surgeries may be required on the victim, according to FOX and then the bullet is likely to be recovered.

Meanwhile, the "white" box truck/van that was found with a "Shell" in it at Dulles is reported to be a 7.62 (.030'??) OLD shell and NOT expected to be part of the "Sniper Shootings".

Multiple LEA's are now in Ashland, VA located about 80 miles south of DC to begin more site investigations at first light of dawn.

Numerous witnesses in the area saw the man fall down and provided aid to the man. The man was still conscious and spoke during the rescue. According to (spit) CNN, there will be NO news conferences from the hospital.

Over to you Laurie Dhue...GRRRRRollin'

I personally don't think they have a clue as to who is behind this sniper business. They aren't forthcoming with any "real" information and that biz with the brass found in the van- give me a break!. If I were the man in charge it'd be permanent desk duty for the "super dick" that couldn't tell the difference between a .223 and a 7.62.

And as far as whether or not the sniper is an Islamic terrorist... the authorities wouldn't know one if they saw one!!!

Actually, it's an old trick to force a .223 bullet through a .223 barrel, then fit it into a 7.62 casing and fire it through a 7.62 barrel so that the markings on the bullet can't be traced to a specific barrel.

Why does the man in the pic you posted have plastic on his hat? In case it rains or what?

Stopping, asking questions, and searching are one thing; but detaining and handcuffing people simply because of the type of vehicle they drive when there are many such vehicles is another. Are you willing to be handcuffed and detained whenever the police feel it necessary to aid in any murder investigation. Will you park your vehicle because you no longer dare to drive it? This technique goes to far and will only hand the terrorists a victory. I despise the need for attorneys, but I get detained, handcuffed and my car impounded simply because of what I look like, I will bring down every attorney I can to stop this police tactic.

The sniper case has given them media a good excuse for ingnoring even more the horrifying crimes of the Carr brothers now on trial in Wichita, Kansas.

And... Maybe the Washington Post and Channel 9 could do a better job, if it takes from Friday to Monday to conduct the 'ballistic tests' to tell us if the found casing is linked to the sniper. And... as far as them keeping the information from the sniper, by not telling us... guess what, the sniper knows. And let's face it, the cleaning crew probably knew when they called the police (all they had to do was look at it, to tell it was not a .223 casing). In fact, I'll bet that is where the Post got their information.

From the pics I posted it looks like they are detaining, handcuffing drawing weapons on folks all because they are dtriving a white van. This is uncalled for, yet the police have to think that every white van may have a gun pointed at them. It is bad either way.

I was wondering how close that was to ya. Too close.

Yeah this guy is no dumb-A** Bubba. And he's a real "in-your-face" kind of guy too, that's right. I'm still debating whether it's an Al-Qaeda type or not. I'm leanin' toward terrorist-related. Just seems so obvious since he/she/they/it concentrated around D.C. and stays in the Beltway area for the most part.

As always, I sure hope they take this(these) jerk(s) out, Dead or Alive.....

Thanks- I wish somebody would ask one of these talking head "experts" about angle of trajectory....it could make for some interesting TV for a change.
And I'd like the shooter to squirm a bit, instead of gloating about how smart he is.

Pray for this poor victim- he's got a tough time ahead- like the little boy. Plus he's not near his home- ot family while he's going through all this. Surrounded by strangers- really sad.

What we need is a geometry teacher and a cartographer!
They could figure the angles, and map out his locations- at least we'd know where to look for bad guys when we are out and about.

If you're willing to fire a .223 through a 7.62 in the manner you describe be sure to give me a little notice. I'd like to have time to call a few buddies and grab a 12 pak and watch. Hope you have health insurance......

You might try to sabot the round but there goes the accuracy at distance.
