The other thread is running over 2800 posts...so here's a new place to post for Sunday.
Per FOXNews, a 10am EASTERN news conference is planned. Two travelers pulled off I-95 for dinner at a Ponderosa Steak House. The Man, 37, was shot in the gut while his wife stood next to him.
Bullet has NOT been removed from the man while, after surgery, he remains in Critical but GUARDED condition, however, x-rays are expected to provide some dimensional analysis of the slug. Further surgeries may be required on the victim, according to FOX and then the bullet is likely to be recovered.
Meanwhile, the "white" box truck/van that was found with a "Shell" in it at Dulles is reported to be a 7.62 (.030'??) OLD shell and NOT expected to be part of the "Sniper Shootings".
Multiple LEA's are now in Ashland, VA located about 80 miles south of DC to begin more site investigations at first light of dawn.
Numerous witnesses in the area saw the man fall down and provided aid to the man. The man was still conscious and spoke during the rescue. According to (spit) CNN, there will be NO news conferences from the hospital.

Thanks for starting this thread.
I'm flagging Peach because she may or may not want to use this for the daily, since it's titled for the Ashland shooting. I hope that there aren't any more today, but I wouldn't bet on it. They had 5 days to map out their sites.

MSNBC (ick) says that there will be an Ashland Police briefing at 0830h ET.
This police group had evidently PLANNED the DRAGNET like response to the shooting on Saturday night. They had planned how to shut down I-95 ramps and other local arteries just in case there would be a shooting in their area.
Also, FOX confirms that the shot DID come from a wooded area behind the "Pondergrossa"...with several access roads coming out of the site.

Thank you for putting this up this morning. I couldn't stay awake any longer last night and FR is the first place I look to every morning for the news and there you were.
Does anyone know what time they let the traffic loose on I-95?
To: GRRRRR
Hoss and Little Joe are gonna be mad this happened near the Ponderosa.
To: GRRRRR
I thought they were recording all the 95's traffic. Shouldn't they have a clear image of the vehicle by now?
To: GRRRRR
Just heard on Fox that the scent led bloodhounds into Ashland itself.....did I hear write(working on only a few sips of coffee)
To: GRRRRR
I'm betting the white truck is a decoy. How can they get away every time? Also, I think they're using back roads, not the interstate. Also, people naturally pay attention to the victim, I don't think I would have the presence of mind to look around immediately to try to see the perp. He just drives away nonchalantly

I popped out of bed for a look-see at about 0115h Central and FOX was still live...the video from a helicopter STILL SHOWED a huge back up on I-95...Red Lights as far as you could see. The commentator DID say that traffic was beginning to move more freely--so I guess it was around 2am EST...

Nah, Major Garret, FOX, said they had a dragnet all around the Steak House and discounted the Bloodhound reports...I do too, actually...I would expect that in order for a dog to pick up "THE scent" of THE shooter, then some piece of evidence would have to be LINKED directly from the target site to the place where the shooter was shooting...and I don't think that has happened...

I imagine most of the people stuck in their cars were trying to be good citizens about this but I bet it was rough for some. Traveling with kids, animals, the elderly (or just some of my relatives)could become a problem stuck on the highway that long.

any medical types in here care to weigh in on the frequency of a bullet being left in a shooting victim ?
and no 55MHz jokes, it's too damned early

*Are we there yet?*....

Was listening to FNC and Major Garret was driving south on I-95 and giving a rolling report of where the roadblocks were. VERRY irresponsible IMHO. He could be helping these murderers to escape.
