Well, gee, nobody had EVER told me that before. NOT.
I get the general picture. I just don't happen to believe opening my car trunk to aid in the search for somebody who is killing my fellow citizens should send me to the gallows or makes me a crappy American
This thread is living proof that there are some among us who would rather a lot of us die than help in the search for enemies of this country.

Please show me where your RIGHTS come from the Constitution. Last time I looked, the Constitution limited goverment, it did not grant any rights. It preserved preexisting rights. Look it up. The Constitution grants Constitutional rights. The Constitution attempts to preserve unalienable rights.

"I also have suspicions about this "religion of peace" claim that's been shoved down our throats, but claiming the USA is a Christian country is going a bit too far. " We're closer to a "Christian" country than not. Most Americans claim to be Christians. Not that they practice what they preach. Nonetheless, we don't have the Shar'ia, so we're certainly not a non-Christian mongrel gutter religion nation.

Trouble in transit, got through the roadblock, we blended with the crowd
We got computer, we're tapping phone lines, I know that ain't allowed
We dress like students, we dress like housewives, or in a suit and a tie
I changed my hairstyle, so many times now, I don't know what I look like! Life During Wartime
This song captures the mindset of the insurgent well. A lesson to be learned from the lyrics is that sniper could appear to be more ordinary than we think. Which does not mean we rule out Al Quada or some other foreign terrorists, but just that we should not focus solely on one particular profile.

Let's not forget that Japan actually occupied a couple of our islands during the war. Pulled this off the web:
When the Japanese occupied the islands of Attu and Kiska in the Aleutians in Alaska in June 1942, the Allies had to remove them before they could attack the Kuriles. The Aleutians would be the only land battles in North America during World War II. The cold weather and remote location would make resupply of the Japanese garrison difficult, while the Americans would send thousands of highly trained soldiers to attack the outpost that conceivably could threaten Canada and the Western coast of the United States.
When the Dutch Harbor installations were attacked on June 3, 1942, the Americans were not fully prepared for an invasion. But occupying Attu and Kiska was a feint for the Midway operation, with little value other then the tactical goal of drawing the US Pacific Fleet into a major surface engagement. Reading the Japanese codes, the US Navy ignored the landings on Attu and Kiska and went to the defense of Midway, sinking most of the First Air Fleet.
The Americans left the Japanese garrisons in the Aleutians alone until a sufficient fleet with effective land units could be assembled. In January 1943, an attempt to reinforce the Japanese garrisons was repulsed with heavy losses in the Battle of the Komandorski Islands. In March 1943, the US Army 7th Division landed on Attu, and killed all but 30 of Attu's 4700 defenders. The end came in the form of a disorganized, drunken charge, called Banzaiby the Americans, who heard the word screamed by the advancing Japanese.
In May 1943, the crack 10th Mountain Division and a Canadian force landed on Kiska, and after some sporadic fighting, the Americans found the island deserted. The Japanese had abandoned the island, except for a covering force that committed suicide.
From June 1943 until the end of the war, aircraft from the Aleutians attacked the Kurile Islands, Japan's northernmost possessions. The Aleutians saw cold-weather fighting that was bitter and protracted, and largely ignored by the American public.

My point is simple. The Constitution does not grant any rights, period. It never has. It preserves preexisting rights. It limits goverment as to goverment's ability to interfere/restrict those preexisting rights. But nowhere in our Constitution is there a source of Rights for the citizens on this country. If you disagree, show me the section and paragraph. If you want legislative history supporting my argument I susggest you start with the Declaration of Independance, first paragraph.

Looks like the thread is starting to unravel. (sorry, couldn't resist that. hehehe) Too many folks want to talk about their personal agendas and take the thread off topic. Hate when that happens. Goodnight. Thanks for all the information and the good discussion.

This thread is living proof that there are some among us who would rather a lot of us die than help in the search for enemies of this country. Why don't you just shut your yap? We'll all be better off.

When it comes to the Declaration of Independence; the United States Constitution; the Bill of Rights and the Federalist and anti-Federalist documents, I will take the words of the actual writers of these myriad documents and the speakers of the words as the final and ultimate authorities. So would I; unfortunately, there are a lot of people around here who act like they are channeling them.
