Just reported. Took place outside of a Ponderosa Steakhouse. Not sure if it is related or not at this time. Police have shut down parts of I-95.

Jeeze I don't know what I would do. Probably give out a blood curtling scream and then run for help.

People are probably voluntarily allowing their vehicles to be searched and I doubt the cops are going to stop and look at any porn or dime bags they see. HA! I think you are missing the point WHEN DO YOU DRAW THE LINE? Can cops do this FROM NOW ON when ever THEY deem it nesscary?
To: GirlShortstop
I *CAN NOT* believe my eyes... MSNBC was covering the police at checkpoints. LE opening up trunks and looking in every vehicle. Am I still in America?Don't forget, this is wartime, even if the politicos haven't told us so out of fear of panic. Things change during wartime.

If I were a cop I would KNOW what I AM LOOKING FOR... why bother looking at all if you don't?I saw the first Manassas area search on TV -- the cops in the middle lane were stopping the car in front of each white van or truck, using the car as a roadblock. I kept thinking, "What if I were the driver of the car in front, in back, and on the sides, and the guy opened fire and stepped on the gas?"
I think it's important to know ASAP when the roads are blocked, so innocent people in that area can get off or avoid them, for their own safety. The way these searches are being done, this thing could turn into a highway massacre.

Red House is in the northern part of Charlotte County (south central part of the state).

a search warrent .. Based on what? A search warrant based on that fact that something happened? We don't want to start living by that standard.

That's not the quote. You left out the words "essential" before liberty and "temporary" before "security"

It's so odd to predict what you would do in something like this. Some years ago, my mom and I heard a gun shot a few houses down. Being the foolishly curious types, we ventured outside toward the area of the gunshot. Another shot was fired, and I immediately jumped in front of my mother and then pulled her down to the ground. Then we got the hell out of there. Now if you had asked me what I would have done *before* that, I suspect my replies would be entirely different. It's just something that you do and don't think about.

But our nation's founders would have laughed at the notion that my right to privacy can be basis to protect those who would take away those very liberties. So why do we STILL have open borders?
Why are Medal of Honor winners being harassed at airports instead of Arabs?
War is not without sacrifice
I, unlike most people, do not believe in sacrifice simply for the sake of sacrifice. I've read too many historical accounts of politicians using that argument to deprive people of their Rights, their property, and their very lives.
Speaking of "sacrifice", maybe the government should sacrifice some of their power (which they usurped to start with) before they start asking their superiors (We the People) to make sacrifices.

37 year old man, shot leaving a Ponderosa restuarant with a woman; in surgery, expected to live; 1/10th of a mile from I-95 in Ashland, Virginia, 70 miles from D.C. South.
I-95 dead stop; police searching ANY AND ALL cars entering Montgomery County, Maryland!

LOL...!

I'm glad you like our re-enactment. You probably saw me doing Henry, if you went to St. John's.

That, sir, is not our constitutional government. This logic is simply anarchy.
To: AGreatPer
Yeah, it's disgusting! One of the newsguys I work with has been having a field day scaring people with West Nile, genetically engineered food, and dozens of other subjects.
He has no trouble with making HUGE leaps of (il)logic, then passing his speculations on as fact. Just the other day in Pittsburgh's East End a rapist was shot by the woman he was attacking. Our newsguy immediately linked him to another series of rapes in the same area even though it was obvious through the MO and description it WAS NOT the same rapist.
He later had to retract.
