Most husband abuse goes unreported, or not investigated at all.

Indeed. My brother was married to a woman that would physically attack him. Kind of a Jeckle and Hyde thing, all nice before marrage and turned abusive after.

Finally, after having hot water (not scalding) thrown on him as he slept, he called the police. The police were, shall we say, less than sympathetic--imagine, in Texas, a man not fighting back (but if he did, HE would be in jail).

So, my brother goes to a woman's shelter and was turned away--was told his presence was unwelcome, as the shelter is for abused women only and men just have to fend for themselves. Nice.

My brother eneded up living in his car for about a week (poor college student) until he overcame his shame and called and we were able to help out.
