Scary times call for basic defense. It's all about the 2nd Ammendment. Think about it.

I agree you for the most part.

I have to say, however, that I just find the possibility that the DC attacks are moslem terrorism to be hard to believe. Not that it couldn't be the case, but it would be so stupid on their part. It strains credulity to imagine that the people behind Al Queda or the Waqf or whatever it is could be this assinine.

If it turns out that the DC shootings have been perpetrated by foreign terrorists under instructions from abroad, there will IMHO be huge consequences. For immigration policy, for second-amendment considerations (as you alluded to), for political correctness, for the entire edifice of modern-day liberalism and the liberal "hive." The power of the UN, of the opinions of other countries (like the EU, for example) will be even more diminished in force than they are now.

If our enemies are really this stupid, my fear of them will actually decrease. Not that they can't do horrible, lamentable damage to us, killing many innocent individuals and causeing much pain and heartache to individual Americans and their families.

But a "frank" world war would be the cause of many times more individual tragedy, and that is (again IMHO) what we are in now, or soon will be. The North Korea revelations bring us that much closer to the day when nuclear fire will again smite human civilization, and the next time the targets may not be some distant enemy of ours. I don't think it has sunk in to many in our country how serious this situation is, how much of a challenge to our way of life we face.

Yo Steely,

Sadly, I don't share your optimism on a U.S. reaction to a terrorist cell being responsible for the sniper killings. The first thing the sheeple will be told is not to profile nor discriminate against our fellow citizens who appear Mideastern.

Secondly, the government will do absolutely NOTHING to close the borders; remember, 3000 deaths and two massive edifices were terminated and the borders are still open.

I'm afraid I don't see why you would call this kind of terrorism is "so stupid". One of the stated goals of AQ is to disrupt the American economy. Suppressing the public's willingness to go out (by shooting people randomly, including at gas stations, malls, and store parking lots), for even a moderate percentage of the people, would have such an effect.

Another goal would be to instill a sense of helplessness in the populace by demonstrating that the government cannot protect the people (the fallacy of this belief notwithstanding - but that's a second amendment issue). From all reports, there is certainly such a feeling growing in the hearts and minds of many DC area residents, if not the nation.

While a sniping tactic is certainly reprehensible, it is certainly a less costly alternative to other unprecedented attacks like 9/11.

Because the Islamofascits believe the worst of American culture - and that we cower when threatened (a la Black Hawk Down, the USS Coles, etc.) - the sniping would be aimed at enabling the gun grabbers while instilling general fear.

Having said all that, I'll finish by saying that it is my opinion that a foreign controlled (Islamic) terror cell is behind the sniping, but that the truth will only be known when the perps are caught. Let's all pray that this happens soon.

And which of these predicted outcomes would disturb the terrorist motivated by islamic fundamentalism, pray tell? Everything about the modern liberal and modern Liberal edifice is anathema to him.

While it sounds good, I think it may be a bit of wishful thinking. The events of 9/11 and subsequently have only served to prove the extremes the liberals will go to in trying to eclipse those very real issues in favor of promoting their socialist agenda.
