We were told The card said "Dear Mr. Policeman, I am God."
To: spodefly
Now why did you have to go and link the NRA to this crap?
You sound as bright as Katie Couric when you post drivel such as this.
with all the press about the predator drones, you gotta figure this guy is going to lay low for a while, maybe forever.

"This [the Washington-area killings] is a terrorist cell, no doubt about it," said Larry Johnson, a veteran CIA agent and State Department counter-terrorism expert. "Maybe it's not al Qaeda, but it is in sympathy with them."
Larry was talking with a little edge in his voice.
"I keep on hearing these experts on television say that terrorists always leave their calling card, taking credit for their monstrosities. Wrong.
"Fact: From 1990 to 1999, there were 3,400 terrorist attacks throughout the world, mainly against the Western world.
"Fact: Some say 10 percent of those terrorist attacks are ones that some group took credit for.
"Fact: I believe it is about 1 percent that took credit. You take credit way after the fact. There are some terrorist groups that take credit for some things they didn't even do."
The atrocities in Washington, Yemen, the Middle East and Asia, he believes, are all connected.
"We have a French tanker blown up in Yemen. We have an American Marine killed in Kuwait and there is yet another shooting against our Marines.
"There is that horrific bombing terrorist attack in Bali, Indonesia.
"This is all happening at the same time the sniper is stalking D.C. and its suburbs.
"Hello?"
Larry Johnson ping.

Eclectic, says "madmen are rarely accompanied by helpers/drivers" and Spodefly says it is not like a serial killer. It is not like the usual serial killer, who works alone and has crimes which are strongly sex related. But there are other types of serial killing, and sniping like this would fit one type of pathology. Also, there have been documented cases of serial killers who work in pairs. In these cases, psychologists say that often they would not have become murderers if they had not met each other (hmmm ... I don't know.)
America has more serial killers than anywhere in the world. But in Australia there are some examples of "pairs" and "shooters". There was the "Truro Serial Murders" by two men who preyed on young women. And there was Josef Schwab, who went crazy in the Northern Terroritory and went around shooting people - rather similar to this sniper. I think he may have murdered as many as 7, before he himself was killed.
I agree with Mitchell that we just do not know yet. There are some strange details about the Washington case which make me think that it might not be random crime, might even be terrorism. But with the current information, I do not know.

The government won't admit it for two reasons: why give the terrorists credit for any victories they ask. The other reason is, the word 'terrorism' scares investors in the stock market. There is another reason, I believe: The authorities are uncertain of their ability to protect the Muslim Communities from American counter-terrorist activities. It is these Muslim Communities that are providing shelter to these terrorists. Even with a $500,000 reward, they refuse to provide information.

The Web of TerrorIf you ever see an old copy of this:
...pick it up- it's old, but you will amazed at how the alphabet soup terror/liberation groups are connected, and how long they have been around...

First, poison the world drug supplies so the users die and the pushers go out of business.
Second, topple the Saudi monarchy and occupy the Saudi oil fields.
Third, if first and second don't work.......try plan B.

Too many coincidences with the timing I concur.....and the fact that, IMO, American nuts don't kill kids unless they target kids (i.e., child molestors, etc., which, then, are going after a "target group").

But maybe that is just what this middle-aged, white guy, NRA member, loser want us to think. Or maybe it's just some disgruntled FR poster who dislikes the NRA and wants to make them look bad. About the same level of evidence exists for both theories.

In my opinion, this is a team, that is studying the effectiveness of this style of attacks. I agree: RECON. See how the public reacts, how our police respond, what their methods are, how likely leaks occur to the media (and about what), whether or not the MILITARY would get involved. They have gained a wealth of info. to "improve" their tactics to use in other cities, etc.
I recall about 6 months ago, there was a thread about RECON OF FIRE DEPARTMENTS by M.E., and a memo went out to all Fire Departments in New York, NOT TO GIVE OUT any info about how they respond to emergencies, equipment used, etc. Did you see that thread, does anyone remember it?

The card said "Dear Mr. Policeman, I am God." There are different accounts of its precise wording. I don't think we'll know exactly what it said until we see a reproduction or photo.
I think it was Nix 2 who said on a thread yesterday that the card has a message on its back that is written in German. That's presumably where it requested not releasing the info. I wonder if it also contained a threat to the government.

I'm convinced now, as well.

This guy sounds like a public educated halfwit with no idea of how logic works. I'll be staying out of sight of Macy's window, believe you me!

"It is a diversion - tie up all law enforcement with this thing that is stopping this city and then come up with something that is even more terrible." Let's refine that possible terrorist scenario:
"It is a diversion - tie up all law enforcement by drawing them out to the periphery of the Washington area and then hit the real target in central DC...."
Like Larry J -- and most of you -- I smell a terrorist strategy in this one.

I believe a number of children died in the Oklahoma City bombing. The Murrah building had a day-care center.
