New York Times leftist Maureen Dowd has Montgomery County Police Chief Charles Moose in her cross hairs for bungling the effort to catch the Beltway sniper.
"Chief Moose says he's looking for 'closure.' I wish he'd simply look for sniper," she writes in today's column.
Where's Dirty Harry?
"Closure is a chimera, if not a canard. And Fussy Charlie, who hates giving out any information about what he delicately calls 'the situation,' even whether the shooter's van is beige or white, makes one long for Dirty Harry.
"Chief Moose ludicrously objected that the Virginia police revealed Monday night that the sniper's white van had a faulty left taillight. He still seems to be coming to grips with the idea that we're in the era of instant communication, Amber Alerts and police scanners.
"Some freak has been driving around the Washington suburbs in a van popping people for two weeks and we still don't know much of anything."
Moose is not Dowd's only target. Naturally she attacks President Bush for rejecting the dubious practice of "ballistic fingerprinting." She says his opposition shows Republicans "are still taking dictation" from National Rifle Association. But surprisingly, she also takes potshots at:
Maryland Democrat Kathleen Kennedy Townsend for "trying to capitalize on her personal history with tragic gun killings to save her limp gubernatorial bid."
Democrat Virginia Gov. Mark Warner for "bucking to be the Rudy Giuliani of the crisis."
Democrats in Congress for trying "to capitalize by rushing to pass a small-bore gun control measure that was going to pass anyway."

This bitch does not have a constructive thought in her feeble little incestuous mind.

As well meaning as Chief Moose seems, I think he's out of his league in being the front man for such a complex case as this.

She writes for the limo liberal set who twitters about her columns at cocktail parties.
You won't hear any football tailgaters yell "Hey did you see Dowd's latest".

Well to borrow a phrase from Chief Moose, for Dowd, "She's just FLUSTRATED!"

What would you do differently? The guy is under tremendous pressure so he gets angry at the media while the camera is rolling. So what? Would anyone else have caught the sniper more quickly? He isn't in this thing alone.

This bitch does not have a constructive thought in her feeble little incestuous mind. Given the source, that wasn't all that bad. Again, given the source.

This bitch does not have a constructive thought in her feeble little incestuous mind. You're almost right. The word "incestuous" implies some type of human being, born of other humans (even if a bit too close in the family) resides in her hateful carcass - there is no human in Dowd.
Heck, she's got every right to march right down to Maryland and give police work her best shot. But she won't...

Maureen Dowd is the ultimate nagging wife from Hell, but who no man is stupid enough to marry. Chief Moose is doing his job the best he can--he's doing serious, real-life business--but all Maureen Dowd can do is nag, nag, nag and bitch, bitch, bitch...as if she could do a better job herself...as if she would have a clue if it jumped up and bit her on the ass. No wonder no man will have anything to do with her. We read her crap, but imagine having to hear her talk like this? Who would want to hear the negative, unencouraging BS that comes out of her mouth day in and day out?

Sheeesh!!!
Obviously the Washington police should call the Dowdster and ask HER to come down and direct the efforts to find this killer.
She, by virtue of such sublime and overpowering intelligence, should be able to nab this guy in a hot New York minute.... NOT!
Give me a break. The Dowdster needs to take up needle-point or something. Her overwhelming delusions of intelligence and wit are starting to seriously get on my nerves.

Maybe Maureen should get off her duff, do a little investigative journalism in the D.C. area and solve the case for Chief Moose. Obviously she thinks she can do better.

Well, at least, it's a refreshing change from the Bash Bush text, Mk 32 thru 51, that has composed her previous twenty columns.
Hmmmmm, Commander-in-Chief Bush vs Chief Moose...
Perhaps, she just got confused.
